My younger brother is big into playing and DMing D&D, so for one Christmas I decided to make him a big dice box with a built in dice tower.
I also wanted to fancy it up a bit by making it look like a large tome.
Most of the box is made out of walnut, but three of the sides are zebrawood so that it kind of looks like pages in the book.
The dice tower is mounted on the back wall/lid of the box, and I put a ramp under it to roll the dice out into the center
Magnet mounted lid for the dice storage
Gotta test the tower ?
On the lid of the box I wanted to inlay his initials in Norse runes and add some fancy trim to the corners
Some light chisel and dremel work and it’s ready for the bling
I cut the runes out of brass. A coping saw made this fairly easy
Got the corner trim inlayed (I bought those) and hit that walnut with some oil. The brass really pops
Starting to install the felt inside, and mounting a whiteboard to the lid so he can write down notes
Lookin good!
Internal elements are all finished
Gotta test it again in it’s finished state!
And we’re done! He was super happy about it, and he still uses it at all of his sessions.
I hope you liked it!

Ohhh I think I could do something similar with a cigar box for my brother! What a wonderful gift.
