Soft Boy Summer

This is Bubba. We got him in a pop up adoption a couple of months ago, and he’s perfect. He arrived in our lives just at the right moment. Mr. Needles and I want to adopt a baby, and I was becoming discouraged and Bubba came around to remind us to keep living our lives.

We’ve grieved that we didn’t have the 3 or 4 kids we originally wanted when we were young. My one and only pregnancy was healthy, but it wrecked me physically and mentally, and we discerned that it wouldn’t be prudent to have another biological child. We also struggled to pay our mortgage month to month and didn’t ever consider adoption until more than two years after finally off loading our house so we have some little savings. Foster care isn’t an option because it would bring a lot of instability to our daughter’s life, and everywhere we’ve looked there are closed doors, the biggest one being the cost.

We have so much to share and not enough money to make sharing it possible.

We try to count our blessings, but tonight I’m sad, and I thought I should show yall Bubba in his soft boy summer.

They told us he’s part Basset, but we think he’s more Corgi. That face is all shepherd.

He has silver markings and funny little arms.

This is how he looks at me while I’m doing chores around him.

His favorite hangout is the middle of the staircase.

I’ve gotten good at blocking his sneak launches.

He’s a long boy.
