Read the article you linked. It's a myth that they fought over the bucket. The bucket was likely taken as a trophy after a battle over possession of some land.

Ah yes, Europe, the country of Italians.

The way I see it, usa is the nephew that does weed, alcohol and parties hard, and europe is the uncle that has done every possible drug, gone to rehab several times, and now tries very hard to stay clean. Trust me, you don’t want Europe relapsing, we will fuck you up in a cruel way. Do you remember in “28 days after” when they see a plane an they wonder if the world has leave them to die? Thats europes style. We will let you push the doom bottom, because we have already survived that before.

I would also like to point out that the whole "ooh, the French are cowards" thing started because they refused to participate in whichever war it was that the US started after 9/11. And is mainly based on France doing poorly in WW2, which came straight after they lost 4% of their population in WW1. Not of their military. Of their TOTAL population.

Uhhhh, "the white flag is the French flag" was around in the 1980s and my understanding was that it was a derisive disregard for how quickly they got stomped and subsequently surrendered in WW2.

Yeah, France has a massive track record of successful military campaigns going back over a thousand years. Ignore that at your peril. The French are perfectly capable of being quite brutal if they need to be.

The french slowed down the Nazis tremendously in Zeeland, Netherlands, as the Germans fought through the Netherlands at the start of the war. This gave the British time to evacuate in Dunkirk. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Zeeland

Any time one of them goes "do you speak German? No? You're welcome", the response from the French should be "are you still part of the British empire? No? You're welcome"

Thinking about Britain, France, and the US, in 1812 the US had a war with British Canada. The result was a resounding draw, and return to Status Quo Ante Bellum, mainly because France was, once again, kicking up shit in Europe.
Which was also most of the reason the war happened at all. Britain was shanghaiing US sailors, and France told the USA "hey man, you gonna take that from them? I wouldn't take that from them" to further distract The British Empire.
