My Edifier Luna speakers don't even have the minimum security for pairing. There isn't even a pairing mode on them! What kind of fucking idiot designs SPEAKERS that literally ANYONE can connect to at ANY time?
Great speakers, but you need to open them up and drill a hole through the bluetooth chip to disable that shit.

It's TRIVIAL to quickly and securely pair Bluetooth speakers/headphones, if the manufactures wanted to. 1) place headphone in paring mode, 2) headphone generates a random 6 digit number for 'secure paring', 3) headphone speaks the numbers and you confirm the same number is shown on your phone's screen to accept the pairing. (This is already part of the Bluetooth protocol).

Read it again. It's possible to track people through certain devices without them knowing. Imagine being at an anti-ICE protest. They can silently pair with earbuds and track people.

Sony does have new firmware for that, but not sure if they patched this particular hole. It said in the app that the update may take 40 minutes, but for me it was done in 4.

Yeah, but you can try walking away from the device they're attached to over and over again until your headphones, cell phone, tablet, and computer all need to be replaced.
Also, I like that I can listen to the movie I have playing on my tablet, but have it pause when my phone rings so I can pick it up. I could take or leave instant pairing, but I've been on the bluetooth headphone train for over a decade and I am NOT going back.

My phone (ROG Phone 7) still has it, because I refuse to buy one that doesn't.
My next phone will probably be a Red Magic, as the ROG series went mainstream and now features a hole punch camera. I refuse to get those too.
