Now that's a fun booth! I think there should be one like it at every shopping mall, town hall meeting, carnival, movie theater lobby, & any other place where people casually gather for fun, food, or frolic....
Be careful whose advice you buy but be patient with those who supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia. Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.
My father-in-law belongs at this table. He loves giving advice, and it’s often mind-bogglingly bad… like a “shortcut” between two places that takes longer than the regular way.
This is at the Salt Lake City Farmers Market. The summer one is picking back up again in June. These guys will be there like they always are. Caputos is great, we get sandwiches there on the regular. Their shop is dangerous for me.
An episode of the Simpsons, where grandpa spoke of wearing onions on his belt, as it was the style of the day. It was just one part of an old coot rant
Oh, that's certainly not the impression I meant to give. No one is obligated to serve a purpose, I only mean that I enjoy talking to older folks and hearing about their lives.
Wait, people don’t have older relatives that regularly pop up at random and give unwarranted advice? My uncles will search me down to tell me what they think I should be doing
Do you actually think every hateful or bigoted person is miserable 24/7, or doesn't bring up that stuff unprovoked? Do you know how often I get "thanks Joe Biden" for random things from customers at work or elsewhere?
Probably, but maybe not. Both of my parents would sign up for that in a heartbeat. They hate Fox News and republicans. They grew up in Mississippi during the civil rights times, and knew it was wrong then.
Put any other stereotype in a comment and it won't go over well. Please use the same discretion before lumping a whole group of people together as 'same'

It's comic sans free
hardytardigrade
Advisement number 1: use comic sans as much as possible
PooPculture
Being old in and of itself is not proof of knowledge or wisdom. How many of your parents gave you really bad advice?
spearioII
Take my advice, it's free. I also advice you to not use it!

Bad advice is even better, as long as it's someone else getting it within earshot.
Fargus57
I always follow the old adage that 'advice can be as dangerous to the giver as it is to the receiver'.I've always fount that to be very true
NervousAstronaut
No thanks. We have an overabundance of old, white men giving "advice". I'll walk down to the fun, colorful booth.
Kaivarii0210
I would stop at that booth. I bet the advice comes with some fun stories
BrianTheSnail
Looks like a good spot for some whiners to have a boomer bashing fest.

As an old coot: don't listen to a word of an old coot has to say - especially from a generation that destroyed the free world.

I would set up a laptop with an AI and offer "premium advice, $5"

Free advice, but at what cost?!? Those barbarians use Comic Sans!

Maybe you are a ghost? What are your feelings on wailing, rattling chains, and tormenting the wealthy for their sins?

I dont have older relatives. All my gparents passed away. And my parents are NOT people who should be giving advice.
kerBamf
I live in NYC. Most of my extended family is in Cali and I wouldn't go to them for advice.

Plus it's right beside the Regional Italian booth. Get your free advice, then go get a sangwich!
LittleOddGames
that's not a food booth. That's where you get advice from Giuseppe, the regional Italian.

Nah, ask em sensible shit like how often you should reseed your lawn or how to fix a weed eater. Even a q-anon mechanic knows how to fix a car.
keyblader1985
That's not really "advice" though. It's basic instructions that you could find with a Google search.

I get the sentiment, but you can't expect that stuff to *not* pop up in this particular context.
professionallazyperson
What context? Old people?
keyblader1985
Yeah. Specifically, large groups giving life advice.
