I just needed a void to talk to, it’s my 30th birthday and I’m far away from my family. I moved originally for work and stayed for a relationship. The relationship is good, however on the eve of my birthday I just realized how much I miss my family and how alone I feel where I am. I’m used to being surrounded by my dramatic loving family who love to go big for birthdays and now I’m trying to keep from crying every other minute when they cross my mind. I’m just feeling down in the dumps and lonely and it’s hard to mention this to my partner without them taking it personal.. however as the birthday texts come in from my family my heart aches for them even more. Hopefully this too shall pass.

Unless they haven't done so already: call your family! Tell them you miss them, and that you love them, they'll make you feel better,im sure

I totally understand this and am in a similar situation. It sounds like you’re a bit farther away, but I try to talk to them at least three

Or four times per week on the phone and visit once every six-ish weeks

I’m about a 20 hour drive and flights aren’t always reasonable. I do get chances to go back at least once a year but it’s never enough you

Know, and talking on the phone usually keeps me feeling good. This weekend is just harder than normal. Thanks for the comment.

Are you in the US? If so, but flights in advance in Alaska airlines. They have sales very frequently where you can get flights for $49
