I think it was more a time constraint thing. There's a very limited amount of time each individual has to interview a person giving testimony. The "I look forward to working with you on this in the future" thing didn't read to me like like "ok I believe you" but more "we're going to have to discuss this further when there's more time, because I still have huge concerns, but I'm being polite because being adversarial would make you combative and obstructive to any questions I have"
