So you like to wear costumes?

Your Halloween selfies have inspired me to end eight years of lurking to share my passion: costuming for charity.

The character pictured is Lady Vixus, a Pureblood Sith Lord. The design, from costume to prosthetics, are my own. She was invented for my local Saber Guild.

What is SG? I’m glad you asked. Saber Guild is a worldwide Lucasfilm-affiliated costuming/stage combat performance group. All performers are volunteers who use their own costumes and talents to raise money for charity.

We do everything, from birthday parties to parades to Cons. We train children in basic saber forms and put on full tech stage shows. We also work frequently with the 501st, Mando Mercs, and MakeAWish.

If you have a thing for performance or costume-building (and I see that many of you do), consider volunteering your skills for a local cause or joining a charity group. Hospitals and such are always in need of generous people to visit kids, and It takes the passion for your fandom to a whole new level. Not to mention, saber combat ROCKS.
