Why gun safety and adult supervision is always important

Some relatives were visiting my neighbors (2 doors down). The family decided it was ok for the boys to be out in the backyard with a BB gun shooting at things with no or very limited adult supervision. The visiting boy shot one of my moms dog.

Vet said no surgery because of how deep it is in the muscle (which is a lot better than a major organ). So the BB stays.

"No, the kids two doors down were outside shooting their guns. Our dogs were in the fence cut outs watching. I had just walked into the house when I hear chica screaming bloody murder like she was hurt ... I come out and see her come hoping towards me.. (moms husband) know boys and guns and he knew it was a direct shot. It isn't the boy that lives there but a relatives kids."

So my moms husband made these cut out for the dogs and cats to use as look outs and ledges when he built a new fence for us. Dogs love them. As do the cats.

It could have been a complete accident....but I doubt that. Either way this is why gun safety (even a BB gun) is important. Teach your kids about how to handle a gun as well as supervising them when they are shooting. Also dont shoot in the city! Dont be a turd.

Probably not an accident op. Recalling my mischievous childhood, I'd say the kid likely meant to shoot your pupper.

Yea I'm sure it was on purpose. I guess its a good thing I wasn't at my moms today. I probably would have made a huge scene at the neighbors

Cats could lay on them while in the sun. So good for feeding time. Cats aren't disturbed.

Pro tip: Don't be a turd! I'm sorry to hear about your pupper :( The BB may work its way out on its own, so no need to worry.

Or it may not come out. Mom was shot in the leg as a kid by my turd uncle. BB is still embedded, Mom's fine. Uncle's now an adult turd.

But she seems to be doing ok. Guess we'll see in the long run.

Well doc didn't want to take it out because of how deep in the muscle it was. Which could only happen if shot at vs accidental ricochet.

Like you said, kids can be turds. It is what it is, and she's doing ok now. BB guns are still guns and should be treated with more respect.

I'd have a talk with the neighbors. Most don't see the things their kids do until it's brought up. Good kids are still turds unsupervised.

I was given a BB gun junior yr of HS. Immediately when I opened the box my mom's husband taught me how to hold it, where to point it ect.

Lol and yes I've done turd things, just never done turd things to animals. I have been around bigger animals enough to know and been 1/
