We are proud to be her humans

This is Peanut, and she just woke up. It was a good deep sleep with dream squirrels to chase. She came into our life and saved us, because we saved her.

She had the right of first refusal when we bought our first home together. She didn't care much for the hardwood floors because good traction is required for zoomies, but it does allow her to drag toys around more efficiently, so it got a passing grade.

She's a little pupper. That bear is about the size of 1-1/2 bananas tall. Peanut is only 1.25 bananas to her shoulder.

For scale, this is a king sized pillow.

She goes on adventures with us as much as possible because she had a hard life before us. This is the three of us sitting in the big chairs on the beach in Wildwood, NJ. It started as a wide selfie, but she kept creeping in more and more as we laughed until this was the last one because we were laughing too hard to take any more.

(Does it count as a selfie if she photo bombs?)

We also explored the various kids parks at a campsite - always being sure to go in after she's done her business. We may take Peanut many places, but we are conscientious dog owners.

She's always been a fan of our local dog park. Here she plays king of the mountain with no one else there. She actually prefers the large dog side because... I honestly don't know. She just does.

She doesn't mind dress up and can frequently be seen (in my wife's pictures) in various dresses and hats.

On her first night with us, she was scruffy and scared. She was a stray that belonged to drug addicts who were using her as an accessory to get more money panhandling. She was malnourished, had open sores, and dehydrated from being on hot pavement in the Texas summer

This is our first ever picture of when we decided she was part of the family.

We weren't looking for a dog to rescue, but she saved us as well. As annoying as having a dog can be to your dual income no kids (DINK) lifestyle, the affection and completeness it brings to your life is worth it.

They say you can't buy love, but you can rescue it. We completely agree.
