My favorite sour candies ranked.

6. Sour Patch Kids: To be fair, I won’t buy sour patch kids. But if someone has them, I buckle down on a couple handfuls of them. It’s the “beginner” and it ranks up there with most all gummy sour candies. Will eat, but won’t buy. Flavor rating 3/7. Sour rating 1/7

5. Ooze Tube. I can’t remember if these are exactly what I’m thinking of because I haven’t had it in like 15 years, but I’m assuming they’re pretty close. Pretty sour, but baby, you are gonna get sticky fingers if you don’t chug it like a bottle of mustard. Flavor rating, 3/7. Sour rating 1-1.5/7, but I like it better than sour patch kids. It’s personal preference.

4. Sweetarts Extreme Sour Chewy. These are good. Just really good. They’re the right amount of both flavor and sourness. You can really go to town on these bad boys and they’ll only start to mess up your mouth half way through the bag. Depending on the bag. Flavor rating, 5/7. Sour rating 2/7

3. Toxic Waste. This is the realm of sour I like. However the flavor is pretty gross. This is like when you want scotch but can only afford bottom shelf whiskey. Sams Cola version of Warheads. Flavor rating, 1/7. Sour rating, 3/7

2. Warheads are the epitome of sour candy, imo. Painful and they have a good after flavor. I like to pop a few in my mouth at a time to do some damage. Not my favorite but a really close second. Flavor rating, 3/7. Sour rating, 3/7.

1. Barnett Mega Sour Candy. One sleepless night I spent and hour looking up the most sour candy and I found these. This is the cat-daddy, the bee’s-knees, the tightest of buttholes. Warhead style flavor, fizzy when you get to the center, and really, really sour. It’s like taking a cheese grater to the roof of your mouth after a few. They have an assortment or you can order it in your favorite flavor (mine is watermelon). I believe they ship from Australia and it takes a hot minute for you to get them (if you don’t live in Australia) but they’re worth it. In true dive bar fashion, they’re shipped to you in ziploc bags which can be off-putting to some but I dig the approach. Flavor rating, 3/7. Sour rating, 5/7.
