My baby is sick. :(
I was asked to update Imgur after my last picture of Rosce so here is my update. I'll start from the beginning for those who haven't seen my first post.
My baby boy was rushed to the vets 2 weeks ago with pain in his back left leg. The vet thought he might have broken it and sent him for x-rays. While we were waiting for the results they put him in a soft cast just incase. We got the results back and he leg was not broken. He was back to walking like nothing was wrong so we assumed he just sprained it and went along our lives. He was prescribed pills to help with pain and swelling.
A couple days after the first injury he was kind of limping on his front left leg also. We called the vet and asked her what we should do. She said that he could have just over used his front leg because his back leg was hurting too much and to just keep an eye on it. By the end of the day he was no longer limping on his front leg so we didn't think of it.
On Tuesday morning he woke me and my SO up at 5am yelping. We woke up and wouldn't move or put weight on his front and was in so much pain he bit my SO when we tried move him to get him in the car, which he would NEVER do. We know for a fact it was not injury this time as he was sleeping in the nice squishy bed.
He was in the vets all day and the ran a bunch of tests and have narrowed it down to what it can be. The first is something called Osteochondritis Dissecans which basically means there is extra cartilage flaps growing in his joints that are getting stuck in his joints and causing pain. (information on that:http://www.petmd.com/dog/conditions/musculoskeletal/c_dg_osteochondrosis) We will need to do a CT scan to rule out this one. Which will cost thousands of dollars that we do not have at the moment and then more for the surgery to fix it.
The other one is Immune-Mediated Polyarthritis which is an autoimmune disease which basically means his immune system is attack his joints. This one could mean he is on pills for the rest of his life. We are doing the test for this one now. It was only $200 so we can rule this one out sooner for less money.
On top of everything he has the puppy version of chicken pox.
In 3 days he will be 10 months old. He is way to young to be this scared and in pain. I feel so helpless when he's laying there is pain. He's yelping and shaking and crying. His little heart beats so fast and his breathing is so fast. And all I can do is sit there and pet him.
Guys I'm scared for my pup.

Sending lots of love for you and your adorable pup!!
SnoweyTurtle
Thank you. He's a trooper and still trying to be happy and making us laugh even through all the pain.

Aww. What a good pup he is! He seems like a trooper!

Where do you guys live? Some regions (you have to do a bit of driving) have non-profit animal hospitals that can work with you on payment

We did that our cat last year... luckily one such place was in the Twin Cities area.
SnoweyTurtle
We're in southern Ontario.

First this I would say, is I've had the same symptoms exactly on my dog. Turned out to be a puppy bone disorder that they grow out of.
Laminatedweasel
It went away on it's own even though I felt horrible for having him be in pain for a while, hang in there and see if it gets worse. (2/2)
SnoweyTurtle
Growing pains is not the technical term btw. It's got some long name
SnoweyTurtle
I'm not sure if it's the same thing but they thought it was growing pains but they ruled that out with x-rays.

Don't always trust vets, some try and get you to spend the money, get a second opinion first.
SnoweyTurtle
Also our vet is amazing. They know we're short on cash right now and are saving us money. They took 6 xrays Tues and only charged us for 1.
Laminatedweasel
That's really good you've got a vet you can trust, my dog took like 2 months to get past the random horrible pains and he's fine now

My dog was about the same age as well, first vet diagnosis was wrong. Said after x-ray he had a broken leg, second said he never did.
SnoweyTurtle
My vet sent out the x-rays for a second opinion to be sure. They came to the same results.

Not an expert, but it doesn't make sense to me for the cartilage to hurt his joint if he's not using it suddenly, then suddenly stop later..
