These numbers represent HUSKIES in rescue. This is from rescueme.org
Look at California!
We need help. They need help!
There aren’t many husky rescues.
Please consider fostering or adopting one or a pair if you don’t mind digging, shedding, howling CUTE sweet dogs!
I bet most of them are under two years old too!!

If you are interested in adopting these gorgeous but high needs dogs, go to: http://www.siberianrescue.com/

Take em to Sweden and all will be rescued within a month

So wait, do they need to be rescued or adopted? Those are 2 completely different things.

4 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 2

Both. Saves them from being euthanized in shelters.

4 years ago | Likes 26 Dislikes 1

For those thinking about it, don't get a husky if you live here in Texas. It's just too damn hot on average. It will be torture for them.

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

As a husky owner I get why they’re too much for most people. but this isnt a secret, why buy them and then dump them on a shelter.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

For the first time in recorded history: a positive statistic for North Dakota.

4 years ago | Likes 132 Dislikes 1

Pretty sure their covid numbers were massively positive too. Heyoo

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

The only reason it's so high in Washington state is I'm pretty sure that they are easily available but people end up giving them back 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

If say it's absolutely neutral. /s

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This makes me so sad and happy. I've wanted another husky found out my 8 year old boy has cancer last month and will be waiting for his sake

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love the idea of owning a husky, but knowing I would not be good for them, is exactly why I hate people who put dogs in this situation

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

For all the comments playing "which state is worse!?": The map isn't normalized by population.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Lotta comments on here by people who don’t seem to understand the concept of “per capita.”

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What the crap California

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Don't forget to add escape artist to the list. Also they need more exercise then a roided out body builder.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

maybe send them to other less dense areas in hopes they'll be picked up quickly

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

Hyperactive drama queens is what I hear from a lot of people about huskies.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I love huskies, but I don't have the energy to keep them entertained.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Jesus Christ. Those states are fucking hot! Why take a fluffy Boi there?

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

People surprised their snow dog that was bred to work intensively for hours every day is a handful and can’t handle heat?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Send em to Canada

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

You do know we get over 100f on a regular basis, right?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Or MN! I work at a rescue here we love getting huskies in and I have 2(mixes) myself. They definitely require more work but they're worth it

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Who do they keep bringing huskies to Florida. Should be illegal.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 2

I live in FL and have two huskies.. we do have AC down here. My huskies are healthy and happy

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Why* even

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I’m baffled by all the huskies in my Bay Area neighborhood. They’re all over our shelter pages too :( people just don’t do their research.

4 years ago | Likes 47 Dislikes 0

Everyone watched GOT and wanted a Dire Wolf...

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

WRT getting which type of dog or just getting dog? People underestimate the commitment needed to have a dog!! Let alone special care needed!

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Correct. That's why I'm not getting one, though I'd love to

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Dumbasses buying large outdoor dogs for their single bedroom apartments. Friend of mine is guilty of this.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My girlfriend had a husky. It takes a lot of patience to deal with this breed. Theyre huge troublemaker but they are so sweet and pretty

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 0

They are so mischievous if they get bored, but they love to snuggle so much

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

We have a husky-nephew. Little bugger once ate the light switches cause he was bored... But he is my new years eve snuggle bug, so I forgive

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Please please please do your research on the breed before you adopt tho. They are not easy dogs.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

My neighbor has 2. I swear they Escape his yard at least twice a month(that in aware of).

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

What the fuck California get your shit together

4 years ago | Likes 36 Dislikes 0

Arizona baaaaaaay

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I live in VA. There’s an organization that transports about 4 huskies a month from CA to here for adoption. I had no idea it was that crazy

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 0

We talking about in general or just on this one topic?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

It's pretty much impossible to adopt a rescue dog if you have kids or cats or other dogs. At least in Cali.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is something I have a hard time with. We really want to adopt but we have cats and want children, and I'm sorry- but I'm not going>>

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I mostly meant rescues won't let you adopt. Raising a puppy is no guarantee of compatibility either. It's even harder to tell. People end up

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Picking breeds based on look vs real compatibility and tend to overestimate their skills and abilities.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I don't want a breed though. I just want a pup from humane society is my point.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Even my local humane society had those restrictions. Tbf the only dogs they had were pit bulls. I'm only interested in working dogs, and

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

>>to be able to trust an animal I haven't been able to observe and train myself. My mom adopted a beautiful GSD that was "great with people>

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

>>home. This was after she was already trying to retrain him with a highly successful 1-1 dog trainer.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I love dogs. And anecdotes are not data. But I had to have reconstructive surgery after a husky bit off part of my face as a child. YMMV.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was attacked by a husky as a small child. Luckily I only came out of it with a scar on my eyebrow and my chin. So yeah. The dog had my>>

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I was attacked by a Siamese cat, without provocation, and Siamese cats were bad in lady and the tramp... But later I found out those were

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Actually some laid back and calm cats... Kids and pets need supervision, tho. Both can be unpredictable and the risks are high.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Fuck Florida.

4 years ago | Likes 60 Dislikes 8

This is one of the main reasons I don't have a husky or a malamute.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

As a Floridian, 1) Fuck You, and 2) I understand.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

That's fair

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yup, I see huskies everywhere here, Was actually surprised the number is so low. Always feel so bad for them when I see them in 100f weather

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

Safe to say no matter the circumstances

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 0

Well, yeah, of course - but do you have anything relevant to this post??? ?

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

No.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Why not California, which has 5x more?

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

Because only Florida bad.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

Northern parts of California are actually pretty cold. Learned that one as a teen when I went to San Francisco without any warm clothes

4 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I mean... Let's be honest. Fuck all 52 states.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

Wow, more states than actually exist. You must really hate the US

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

You must be really fun at parties. /s

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

I put the /s so you'd understand that I'm being sarcastic. Take your time.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

They added Puerto Rico and DC as states in their count

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Whose court?

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Who the hell thinks it's a good idea to bring a husky to Texas?

4 years ago | Likes 692 Dislikes 8

They acclimate well. Remember they have separate summer and winter coats.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Texans

4 years ago | Likes 114 Dislikes 5

This answer has it all. The obvious. The funny. The depressing. And the implied idiot arrogance in decision making.

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 1

I had a Malemute we brought from AK to WY, then I moved to Prescott, AZ for college. She did OK, used a mister system for summer time cool.

4 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 4

Prescott is reasonable temperature wise. I am disappointed at how many people I see with huskies in Phoenix. Totally irresponsible.

4 years ago | Likes 15 Dislikes 0

Yea never understood the triple coat work dog in Florida when visiting there. So you’re shaving the dog and destroying the look or killing it

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

tbh florida is worse

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Selfish assholes who have no consideration for dogs needs.

4 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 9

Or California for that matter. It's usually on fire.

4 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 3

Literally anywhere Humid and Hot. Just keep huskies out of any state that is humid and hot

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

60 assholes at present. You better be damn rich to pay for that much AC in TX

4 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

Well it is sort of cold there now.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Texans

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Morons

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Mine was born in Texas so it's not like we had a choice, but at least now I can keep him comfortable instead of him sitting in a shelter.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Friend PCS'd from Alaska to TX. His husky simply hated life and spent his days hugging the concrete floor.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

...or California? wtf

4 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 4

Mine came from Texas. First summer here he was fine. After one Canadian winter though, he hates temps above 10C.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

I hear it snows there - Australian meteorologist

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

People who think they're designer dogs, usually

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Go to Mexico and South America. Huskies are fashion pets. Seems cruel.

4 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 3

My cousin, apparently. Though we quickly made him switch with with mom's bulldog.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Stupid, selfish people who want a "wolf dog"

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Same idiots that have a husky here in Hawaii.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Texas is huge and has lots of mountains. Just because it's a Southern state, doesn't mean it's too warm for huskies.

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

It's too warm because those mountains are in the West.... Like Southwest region of the US. Texas more incommon with southwestern climate

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

At least 60 people

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Dunno. I rescued a husky from a texas shelter this last month, I live in the northeast where it’s basically cold af 6 months. She loves it.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

I was surprised to learn recently that they do rather like most dogs in the heat

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Texans?

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I don’t get it either, but they are very popular around the Houston area.

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Or California?

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Texasenese people

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

it seems like common sense but I just did a quick google and every link I clicked on said they are fine in hot climates ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

But this is imgur, actual information doesnt matter as long as you can get social credi.... upvotes.

4 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Former husky owner here: They actually do just fine in heat. They acclimate well. Like any dog though, always give it shade and fresh water.

4 years ago | Likes 96 Dislikes 20

Oh you mean like. "If it misbehaves again it gets the hose again" /s

4 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 2

There was a st Bernard in a rescue in Thailand that they shaved once per month

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

Don't shave huskies!! Dunno if Bernards are the same, but for the love of God, don't shave a husky to cool it down!

4 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Their undercoat is insulation vs hot and cold. Basically just plan to have water available if out and about

4 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 5

Maybe I should rephrase... Who the hell thinks it's a good idea to live in Texas?

4 years ago | Likes 58 Dislikes 2

Fuck if I know, I stay far away.

4 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Those who have enough money to move to a different state but don't

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

Sure they survive.... that does not mean you should have one in a warm climate.. if you care, they are way more comfortable in cold climates

4 years ago | Likes 42 Dislikes 19

No really, they acclimate. Just like humans, they adjust. It's literally in their biology. Any Vet will tell you, they are just as happy.

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

I ha e a husky and live in Florida. She lives a happy life and spends most time indoors and enjoys the backyard un the evening and 1/2

4 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 5

The dog park on cool days. I dare you to tell me I'm a bad pet owner.

4 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 6

Listen pal, this is the internet. Dont you dare defend yourself. Accept your shame and humiliation and move on. Because stranger said so. /s

4 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 2

Im not trying to shame you. Im just speaking the truth. sure the dog is happy. It would just be more comfortable elsewhere.
