Five months chip

Oct 14, 2023 1:50 AM

I picked up a five months AA chip today. This has been a difficult but rewarding adventure, one that included rehab, sober living and a whole bunch of meetings. But now I’m the furthest away from a drink that I’ve been after over 20 years of daily drinking. My message to anyone considering making a similar move is to take the plunge and give it a shot. It’s worth it. Five months ago I could hardly get off my couch and now I’m feeling healthier and more energetic than I have in years. And if you try and fail, just keep going. This is my third attempt and so far the most successful and I’ve got no end in sight. One note: if you try to stop and feel really sick/panicked/shaky, consider rehab or a at least a detox. Quitting on your own can be dangerous and they provide a safe way to do it and can help you with the worst of the withdrawal symptoms.

Way to go! From someone working on their 182nd month.

Congratulations! It works, one day at a time. Things keep getting better, even in times of troubles, staying sober has been fantastically better than my using days.
