Daikon radish cake before getting chopped up and pan fried! Lo bak go (maybe you've seen it at dim sum).

Smelled so good while frying...

Oh hell yeah. Even a little crispy it's fantastic with a little hoisin sauce!

This was the appetizer. All gone before dinner!

The noodz after a quick boil (30 sec) as they're fresh. In the wok! With sesame oil, soy sauce, garlic, and the King of Flavor!

The seafood: squid, scallops, and shrimp with scallions, ginger, carrots, garlic, and a bit of chicken stock (cornstarch to thicken).

Money shot! Slightly crispy noodz right around the edges. It was so good.

Sponge cake! My first time making a cake from scratch!

The, uh, second part didn't work out as well since we only had one 8" pan so I had to make them in two batches. So it came out a bit thin and lop-sided. Anyway, cover it up with whipped cream from scratch!

Fresh strawberries with a sugar glaze on top!

Here you can see the difference in the layers.

Either way it was good! Everyone ate the whole cake so it was a hit!

Wife and I spilt the duties and it worked out great! We've tried cooking together before and she's fat more experienced than me and we used to just get in each other's way. This time we were like clockwork and it was fantastic! So stoked to ring in the New Year this way.

Last year our cat died and I lost my job of 9 years. A few months prior to that we lost our baby right after the third trimester.

But our 6yo is thriving in school and we love our town. We're closer to family and I have a new job. Things are looking better!

So sorry for your losses, your feast looks delicious
