Alan Rickman's Forgotten Classic

Closet Land (1991)

I saw a post earlier about how people don't remember that Alan Rickman was in the Hitchhiker's Guide adaptation, so I thought I would shed a little light on a movie that most of you not only never saw, but I'd put money on most people having never even heard of.

The movie stars Alan Rickman as a member of the Secret Police. His sole job is to get the author (Madeline Stowe) of a Children's Book called 'Closet Land' to admit that she embedded subversive political messages in her books.

The whole 90 minutes worth of movie is the interrogation scene. Just the two of them in the room together. It gets a bit brutal, but not Hostel brutal. The movie came out in 1991, after all.

Both actors put in an awesome performance. Since there's only the two of them, they essentially have to carry the film themselves.

This movie is so far under the radar, it's not available to purchase on DVD in North America. PAL format only. You can get it on VHS though. Or through... other means. Yar har!
