McCain probably had a real fighting chance to get the presidency. But the second he announced Palin as his VP everyone had the same thought of McCain dropping dead of a heart attack the second he's sworn in and Palin running up to the podium immediately with "Looks like it's PRESIDENT Palin now!" And that immediately secured Obama's win.

McCain humiliated himself for a shot at the White House and paved the way for Trump, who then mocked McCain constantly. I had some respect for McCain before he went with Palin. I wouldn’t have voted for him, but I thought he had some principles and was a person I could trust to stand up for some basic and shared principles.
He put out a red carpet for the absolute worst faction of the GOP because he was willing to sell out anything to get to the White House. Fuck him.
