First you prime your base with #Vallejo Surface Primer #70.626 Leather Brown and apply some #Citadel Agrellan earth wherever you want some cracked earth effects.

Then you apply Vallejo #26.217 Earth Texture on the rest of the base, this will make the sandy part

Just let it dry

First cracks become visible

Paint the whole base with Citadel Zandri Dust

Apply quite a lot of Agrax Earthshade, we want it to pool and fill the recesses

Drybrushing with Citadel Zandri Dust and Citadel Tyrant Skull

If you‘d like to have some rocks on your base you can make them from cork, paint them with Agrax Earthshade and drybrush them with Tyrant Skull

After applying the mini it is time for some dry pigments to get a dusty desert look. Apply with a cosmetic brush and fix them with Airbrush thinner or alcohol. I spray it on, just a little bit. We don’t want to rinse the pigments off.

That’s it. If you like you can add just a little bit of pigments again to make it look a little bit more „dusty“

Have fun making your own desert bases
