Upon further investigation on Reddit, they say it’s the broken off piece of the cattle prod that was lodged in the head of the alien. The argument is that the acid blood would keep the broken piece sparking.
I don’t know if I buy the reflection argument. When the lights flash on and off that area doesn’t reflect light the same way. Its visibly different than the smoother parts of the head.
