I worked for a consulting and info systems services company. If I did this at work I'd be fired. Not for making a mistake but for not showing the slightest effort to check my work on a presentation that represents the company.
This a definitely a reflection of who is at the top and their hiring practices. Abilities don't matter, jobs are given to friends and cronies with no knowledge or skills needed.

Yup, the practice of giving jobs and responsibilities to friends and the not the mistake talented starts at the top and rolls down.
I can't understand not having the intellectual integrity of checking your presentation before it's shown.
We had to make presentations to clients and presentations got check up and down the line.
