RHM + Moto Monday:  Ducati 916

Hard to described the impact this bike had back in 1994 but basically there hadnt been really sexy European motorcycle since the Laverda SFC. The 916 marked a radical departure from the predecessor 888 and Paso models and was basically labelled as the Ferrari of Motorcycles. Designed by Tamburini who also designed the MV Agusta F4. Basic body style was so well received the following two sucessor bikes (the 996 and 998) looked pretty much the same. Legend

The MV Agusta F4 Oro - you can see the 916 DNA

The 916 is still one of the most beautiful bikes ever built.

I worked at a motorcycle salvage yard. These things were a pain in the ass to tear down.

Friend of mine had the 996 back in the day - he had so many mechanical issues with it, unfortunately.

996 is the unloved middle child. 998 was great, 999 which followed it was HATED when it came out due to design but has since aged well

The Monster 750's were solid, though. I bought mine in '99 (Monster 750 Dark model) and still got it, tho haven't ridden in a couple years due to life issues.
