Refrigerator makers got a scam going. The water filters cost $60 a piece. So every 6 years you pay for a new fridge. But you don’t get one !

Yes and also the A-coil which is on the furnace itself. Particularly true if you have pets with fur.

and change your filters in your air handler (indoor fan). If you don't have a filter look into having a filter track installed. It will help keep the hair and dirt out of your A-coil...

Good old fashioned mechanical equipment. Wait till they start building these like the new large appliances - 5 year life span, maybe 10 and deadski. I remember my mom's old washer and dry ran for 20+ years and all it needed in that time was a belt. We've gone through 2 fridges, 2 ranges, 3 dishwashers now in 10 years hahaha.

Can confirm. When I bought my first house my parents gifted me their old whirlpool washer and dryer set. A familiar set that I grew up with which was a couple years older than me. I'm 38 and the dryer still works

I have found it's very much the boots theory applies in this case with appliances. Of you pay more you can get something that lasts longer and is reparable. The budget options save you money up front but have to be replaced more often and can't be repaired. Sad but true.

Not true. We bought the top of the line whirlpool dishwasher - brand name, top unit. 5 years, deadski. Replacement parts equated to almost the same price as a new unit not factoring in labour. So we replaced it and bout a cheap one cuz if I have to replace every 5 years, no need for the best

IMHO, dishwashers take up valuable space that could be used for a bigger sink and an instant demand hot water heater. Weirdly, I find washing my dishes by hand to be cathartic.
