Last Victim: A True-Life Journey into the Mind of the Serial Killer

A question on Reddit brought this book to mind, "Last Victim: A True-Life Journey into the Mind of the Serial Killer" by Jason Michael Moss. The question was "What is the most disturbing book you’ve read?" I'm going to answer it on Imgur because there were like 4000 replies on Reddit and I'll be lost in the crowd. Maybe one of you all will have an interest. Moss, for his honor's thesis, wrote letters to serial killers. He met with several of them and visited John Wayne Gacy, the "Killer Clown" twice in prison before Gacy was executed. His description of his first meeting with Gacy terrified me in a way I had never felt before. I could only read a sentence or two at a time and would get up and walk around the room before I tackled the next one. To put it in perspective, I wasn't a snot nose kid with peach fuzz on his chin when I read the book. I had been in the U.S. Army for more than ten years and had recently finished invading a small, foreign country. This book's passages concerning Gacy changed my perspective on life. There really are monsters in this world and they look just like you and I.
