Hardly a confession, but the anxiety is getting to me

Over the last year I've been getting more lethargic and gaining weight, and up until about 8 weeks ago I just attributed that up to sheer laziness and decided to get back to working out. The laziness persisted. My fiance had a medical issue of her own and her new doctors gave her pills to help her sleep and combat some of the side effects of her other medication.

I never slept great (hour or so to fall asleep and waking up once or twice a night) and I was envious to the quality of the sleep she was getting, so rather than take some of her pills I decided to go to the doctor over my lethargy. They recommend a sleep study before prescribing any sedatives since i'm overweight and have an overbite. I say thats fine, but our in-network sleep study doctor has a waiting list of 8 weeks. I would also be diagnosed with Low testosterone with my followup appointment for that being in December.

Knowing that I'm not sleeping well is wearing me down, more and more each day, no non-lethal amount of caffeine can keep me from nodding once, twice, now three times a day at work. I must be a hypochondriac because my mother made an offhanded comment that I shouldn't be driving because she thinks I could fall asleep at the wheel, and now I'm scared that I will.

I was already tired all the time, but now i'm TIRED, and if this sleep study finds nothing then I am straight FiretrUCKED

Do you stop breathing in your sleep and then make a terrible sound and start breathing again?

Over bites have nothing to do with obstructive sleep apnea. It has to do with your throat getting too relaxed.

Try not to stress. I know that's unhelpful, but probably the only thing I can offer through the internet.

Just try to go to bed early and take plenty of naps. Always helps time go by a little faster.

My husband has sleep apnea. Sleeps like a baby with his machine. It sucked for a week adjusting to it, then changed both our lives.

I hope they are able to get to the bottom of what is causing your sleep issues!! It affects so many things

My friend did a sleep study, he had red ears

Have you tried any of the over the counter pills? Just a thought until your study. Careful driving, Uber it.

Same. I'm about to go get some sleep now.

I don't mean no harm, but it could be an issue of how you consume caffeine to stay awake. Drugs do mess with your mind and body.

I took a 3 week caffeine cleanse to try my best to reset my caffeine tolerance, now caffeine only makes me tired with a higher heart rate.

That's how chemical dependence on a CNS Stimulant works. You get tired without it.

That is the point of what I am saying. Remove the drug completely and then see how you function.

Smoke some weed and that will help you get some sleep

It definitely helps

I actually wake up in pain when I smoke before bed, like I got into some weird position and never got out

If OP does of sleep apnea then a sedative can kill OP

I did one of those once. I had been sleeping upwards of 17 hours a day. They diagnosed me with sleep apnea before I fell asleep... I never

Hypochondriac or narcoleptic?

7 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

He's not narcoleptic. Low T seems spot on though.

You are being sarcastic right?

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

No, me being a narcoleptic. He has trouble getting to sleep. That ain't right, he'd also be mentioning other symptoms

7 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Also, narcolepsy is normally onset pretty early, low T corresponds with weight gain. Narcolepsy is irrelevant to it.
