Ok, this was in mid-2018 actually. Dug up my original Atari 2600 (light-sixer, I believe), which had sat in the basement for close to 20 years, and was in disuse longer than that. Got an RCA-to-coax adapter, and my TV has a coax input. Had to lightly clean contacts on some cartridges, but it STILL works. And I spent rather more time than I anticipated playing Yars' Revenge. Like, WAY more time. Despite being kind of repetitive, I forgot how addicting this particular game was.

An excellent game. I didn't own it back in the day, and don't think it's in my box of "wait, where the hell did I get THIS?"
I did get to borrow it from a friend back then, though. It's excellent!

I was able to play YR when I was in High School before it was released. A friend's uncle worked on the game and they had loaned him a testing unit. Not even in a cartridge, just the bare PCB. So much fun.

I'd be rusty, but I'll bet my E.T. cartridge, which was a Christmas gift when I was a kid.
It's better than most people make it out to be, though it does have its flaws.

Some neat Yars' trivia: The rainbow colored bridge section is actually the code from the game, just with some basic random processing done to it and laid out vertically.

Yeah, I'd actually stumbled across that info REALLY recently - but still really cool. Some of the little tricks and tidbits they did for a system with such limited resources are incredible!
