I was crushing on this girl for a while. I was deep in the friendzone for sure , but I was hopeful.
She made a move and asked me to take her to the work Christmas party. I was hyped!
We go the party. Everyone drinking. Everyone dancing. Great time.
After party at the local bar. HUGE CROWD!
We head to the second floor. DJ. Music. More drinks.
I'm a little drunk. She's gone for a while. Finally find her dancing with another dude. Non-stop with this guy for about 30 minutes.
I'm pissed. I've never smoked but I thought (for some reason) the play would be to steal a cigarette, light up and smoke.
Apparently I'm the least manly smoker on the planet because this other guy at the bar immediately comes over to introduce himself to me.
I freak out and bolt.

BUT WAIT. HERE"S THE PAYOFF

When I get home (live with my parents then), my dad is awake saying the girl has called telling me I need to take her home since she left her purse in my car. Call this number. Dude's house. (This is pre-cell phone era).

I go to the dude's house, pick her up after waiting outside for 15 minutes. Drive her 20 miles to her place and drop her off.

Wait 3 months. She gets engaged to dude.

BONUS - See her 2 years later and she put back on 80 lbs. and I had lost about 80.

TL;DR - She wasn't meant for me.
