If you create anything, you'll always see a thousand more flaws than anyone else will. So while I spent the week worrying about all the little things we did wrong, guests, vendors, and attendees asked about next year and made requests for panels next year.
Feralkyn
Awesome!
Ironynotwrinkly
I run a street painting festival every year, I promise it gets better and more hectic every year! High five to you for taking the risk!
morehumanthanhuman
Nice one. Props you!
AbrasiveSasquatch
Youve got a good setup going in an area where people are looking for that sort of thing, congrats on hitting the sweet spot and doing it wel
keyblader1985
I've come to realize I'd love to do this for a living. Not particularly being in charge, but just helping create a haven for fans.
thebenLord
"You're not going to be running this next year, are you OP?" - Vendors all weekend
Shaftmaster
Well it's good you stressed over the small stuff. Showed you prepared. And all the eff ups are just things you can fix next time.
somethingnotyettaken
"Are you running it next year, too? I don't wanna waste my money if you are..."
LetsTalkGameDesign
I hope the exact question they were asking wasn't "So... who's running it next year?"
daminal
Hey @OP. I've got an MBA and will gladly give a little free business advice. PM me if interested.
Butt13last
If you build it, they will come
kehlee
A good friend of mine runs shows in my town, in which I vend, and it's amazing. PM if you have any questions or stuff. :)
Kiopho
Don't forget about blackjack and hookers.
iDigDinos
That's really awesome OP! Sounds like this year was a total hit!
TheOGPooner
Big ups @OP

Thank you!
D34dStar
Where did you have this at?
iamghostrobot
People really need to focus on living in the present.
InDubiousBattle
BTW: I took lead over the weekend, but there is also an excellent staff I work with that put in tons of work too. They rock.
Astrolobos
just make sure your guests take good care of the convention area, people being stupid and making a mess can kill a small con
InDubiousBattle
Good reminder. I think we did reasonably well. In any case, tomorrow the thank-you note writing begins. Our partners were incredibly helpful
heywhaddays
Tell them you'll do it if they give you a raise.
suvinrk
Congrats on a job well done OP!

Probably has more comics than the San Diego comic Con
ulnek
Grats. Those are always hard to put together
DaHoochMan
Hmmm could it be BA. Con...

Trillions of congrats to you. I know these things are difficult to setup and to keep everyone happy. Well done. Did you break even?
InDubiousBattle
That's the accountant's job to figure out. We all took a day off today, so we'll get the news later this week.
SirReginaldDukeOfChutney
I expect an update! Congrats, OP!
SomethingFunnyUsername
Hope you make some real money on this.. good Job
InDubiousBattle
Thanks. We actually did this as a non-profit museum. Any profit goes to our other big educational program, writing camp for middle schoolers

Props
HeWhoMustNotBeUsernamed
Nice fucking work. I'm appreciative that you spent that much time and effort on it :)
InDubiousBattle
Thanks! As tiring as it was, it was one of the most satisfying things I've done. Now that I am not exhausted, I can bask in a job well done.
LucasTigy
Are you in the cold city next to the river, because I may know of this con
InDubiousBattle
Nope. Monterey county, CA
ThatsWhatSheSed
I sent OP a message about this but if anyone else is interested in comic con related stuff, Oodon.com is a startup I'm working for and 1/
ThatsWhatSheSed
Is trying to foster a never ending comic con experience. Come check us out and sign up if interested!
ZircZZ
Nice! Where is this?
InDubiousBattle
Monterey County, in CA. A lot of people in this town can't afford to go to Cons in the Bay Area. We also tie it to literacy and education.
PanditSnuggler
Great job this year!
InDubiousBattle
Thanks!
RhymeRuin
Cool! My hub grew up there and always complained that there were never any good cons in the area. Way to go!
InDubiousBattle
Tell him our Con is small but mighty!
framboise
Tip: a good volunteer pool for celebrity handlers and general is the military. The tech schoolers there in particular. If you talk to
framboise
A first sergeant at the DLI, they can definitely get some volunteers. We use it as a bullet. Alamo City Comic Con uses this pool yearly
InDubiousBattle
Huh. Thanks. Never would have occurred to me.
MTB446
Yeah, I'm guessing over half of them attended anyway. The military is really just a lot of nerdy jocks.
ZircZZ
No wonder people are enthusiastic about a followup next year. Well done OP, really well done!
InDubiousBattle
Thanks!
