Where's the bright colors of the 80s and 90s? The quirky designs we saw in electronics in the early 2000s? I would love to see more color in our designs.
I think we're starting to see some bold color choices for couches now, letting the furniture _be_ the art and focal point of a room. The art is functional! Also: does anyone actually have a lifestyle that lends itself to having a white couch?

It could be that with the prices of everything rising, the ability to boldly pick your furniture to match your currently preferred colour scheme makes no sense. Instead pick a neutral colour and accessorize with pillows or pillow coverings that are your pop of colour.
Excellent point! I can see that about me and clothes. I thought I was growing boring, but really my wardrobe became shades of gray and khakis (euphemism for black) because I keep thinking that every purchase could be the last for years, so they need to be neutral and with a more comfortable fit.

Fashion trends are always changing. At some point greys and whites will become passe and colors will return. FWIW I always liked monotone colors since I was a kid in the 90s. Maybe that was my reaction to growing up in a world of mismatched colors. So who knows, gen alpha kids growing up in a world of monotone might yearn for color and when its their turn to decorate their apartments, it will be all colors. I mean we're seeing it now with RGB everything when it comes to their products.
Automobiles lost their colors, as well. The vast majority of cars on the road are a color somewhere between black and white with all shades of gray in between. Red seems a distant second and blue an even distant third. What happened to green and orange and yellow and purple. (I'm not missing brown, to be honest.)
Neutral tones are easier to act as a base for colour changes as you feel like it. It's easier and cheaper to change some throw cushion covers or a throw blanket than a whole new settee
Honestly I miss the 90s. Clashing colors, patterns and designs in decor felt like jazz for the eyes. Plus I can more easily tell what kind of person you are. Now everyone watches a couple of weeks of HGTV and thinks they are Andrée Putman. Fucking house like a cream factory. Get that beige mom sensory deprivation shit out of my face jessica.
