Never in my entire life did I ever think I would be saying/doing this......today I bought pepper gel and a stun gun. Tomorrow I am buying a long gun and a handgun because I no longer feel safe in my own country - I also can't believe I had to type that - what have we become?

Arm all women.

To be terribly, awfully pedantic: "TOTIN' ", as in "toting / to tote". This technically reads more like "Gun Tote & Mamas", where "tote" is a noun referring to a bag in which one might carry a gun.
Good on you for arming yourself, though. If shit hits that particular fan (and it very well might), it's going to be a lot easier on you to be familiar with operation and maintenance of firearms.

Agreed; but not my name, not my logo.

shame about the downvotes, but the ability of the oppressed to actively take part in their own security is the good part of the 2nd amendment. Good for you.

Thank you.

What have you become? You've become a survivor. You've become someone that if they come for you, they're going to regret it.
I myself daily carry a double stack 1911 in 10mm now. That's 16+1 rounds of the devil's own caliber. If they come for me, I'm going to put the fear of god into them!

Thank you. Good luck to us all.

Thank you. Already looking into local gun ranges and have taken a gun-safety course.

I don't know what the deleted person said but your reaction relieves me of the need to comment, since you're going to do what I was suggesting. I hope they were polite
ILoveMadKate
They were, I have no idea why it was deleted. Basically, they said if I didn't do training it really wouldn't do me any good to buy a firearm.

Something that's been in my mind. How do you know if you'll have the inner strength to pull the trigger in a self-defense situation? I hear stories about how the very worst thing that can happen is for you to pull a piece and not have the gumption to pull the trigger. How can you know before it's too late? Is that something you can train yourself to do?
ILoveMadKate
I don't know if I would be able to use lethal force; that's why I also bought a taser and pepper gel as first line of defense. I hope it won't take lethal force to stop someone, but if it does, I hope my training will kick in (I plan to go to the firing range weekly for the first month or two, and then at least once a month). I also hope self-preservation will overcome any hesitation on my part.
