I also made some shadowboxed samurai years before for fathers day. These were easy in comparison. It took me more time to figure out photoshop and create the images than to cut them. The one above is actually mine, but the others are here: https://imgur.com/gallery/egxMQ.

Heck, if you want to make some yourself, here's the templates I made: https://imgur.com/a/EsQNE

I just liked the dynamic kwan dao action on this one. Also the fancy hairstyle.

Time to die, or "how to really leave yourself open"

I am no artist

... but even I feel semicreative from time to time. Here's a few things I've done.

For a bit I was doing shadowboxes like the one above. That one has 10 layers and the most complicated took 10 hours of cutting. I even documented the whole thing here: https://imgur.com/gallery/8Qto5 and even though that post only merited 47 points, my dad liked his father's day gift anyway.

Even better with the lights on

The LEDs I picked were supposed to be pure white, but it turns out that we see 'pure white' as somewhat yellowish. To make it appear white, we actually add blue!

Turns out that's how these "True White" LEDs work. I managed to capture it in this picture, and I think it looks even more awesome.

You want to look at the color temp of the white FYI when picking light colors. It could be “pure” still but with not enough juice for your liking and this dims or yellows it a bit

Looks awesome though

Well, these were taken like 15+ years ago, but the white light actually does look white in person. Just not on sensitive cameras.
