After digging out my car this morning I noticed our community maintenance still hadn't cleared the fire hydrants. I got started on my nearest one, got hungry, came in for lunch.
20 minutes later I look out and these douche nozzles had completely buried it again.

This details the ideal clearance but anything you can manage is better than nothing.
(Pro tip: burying it with the snow you're clearing from your parking spot is WORSE than doing nothing.)

Firefighter here. The hydrant pipe is 8 ft below the surface with a valve to stop the water from following up until you open the valve.
