There is plenty of blame to go around for every political and military shitheads in Afghanistan and allied forces abroad but right now and as always it is the innocent people who are going to pay the price for their mistakes with their lives and livelihoods. Suffering never ends for my people. We are hated and unwanted everywhere.

Any military that falls that quickly after having US support for 20 years is not even trying. What a fucking waste of life and money.

Biden... and he also negotiated the withdrawal from Iraq that led to ISIS taking over. He wanted the Afghan pull-out to be Sept 11, 2021...

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Twenty years and 2 1/2 trillion dollars and hundreds of ISAF and allied lives wasn't enough, then I'm sorry, but your country is unfixable

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 1

So after 20 years USA leaves and the country just rolls over for Taliban? JFC, they should have pulled out way sooner.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

I have little bits of shrapnel in my body, and this is what we have to show for it

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Oh bugger. All I have is a nice looking rock I found. Seems a bit underwhelming now

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Aw man why didn't I think to keep a rock?

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Just imagine all that US military equipment they'll gain from US tax-payers; thanks Industrial-war-complex! Not like I wanted health care...

5 years ago | Likes 102 Dislikes 14

That's all being reduced to scrap, not left for their use. Not that much better, but better.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Not just U.S. Taxpayers, Canada ,Australia, Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Norway to name but a few......

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

At least they have healthcare...

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

We destroyed most of that equipment.

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 7

No we diiiiidnnnnt

The thing is, populations in Western Nations just grew tired. Millions spent on a seemingly endless war, dead soldiers, with very little >

fear has led to a belief that the Middle East isn't worth getting involved with and should be left to its own devices.

America has a responsibility to take care of the local helpers that were so instrumental, they are in so much danger now.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 1

I can agree with this. I'm all for bringing the local helpers here and giving them a green card and pathway to citizenship.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

And all the vets are dropping like flies, committing suicide left and right

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Pray??? Religion is the shit that caused and feeds the situation.

Anybody else remember China meeting with the Afghan Taliban just 2 weeks ago...and now this? Link below

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

China wants to extend a transportation pipeline through Afghanistan to Pakistan.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

What's the taliban going to do once it owns the place and kills everyone there won't be any resources left to supply themselves.

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

There is always money in terrorist training camps.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Easy, they'll go back to growing opium.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 0

I'm only aware of the cool up and coming drugs I'm guessing Opium is still the drug of choice for the southern hemisphere / parts of asia

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

No, it's heroin. Made with that opium.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

They're talking with China about mineral rights.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Somehow I don't think that'll work for either, since China is absurdly overbearing, and the Taliban is about as unstable as anything can be.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Well, unless they pay them for security. (By that, I mean pay them to stay the f**k away.)

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

This is WW1 level of "what the hell was that all for?"

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

I derive no pleasure in pointing out that Afghanistan has never had democracy. They have always lived under the crudest tribal system.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

The same was true of every democracy before they first implemented democracy

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Your comment made me start thinking. That area has had culture for 4000 years and it is still the same as back then, primitive tribal.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Afghanistan will fall faster than Vietnam after we pulled out of there. There is little or no support for a democratic government. Sorry.

5 years ago | Likes 179 Dislikes 6

Dude… you were right

4 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Don’t apologize, we don’t all blame you personally.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Oh there's plenty of support. Just they ain't the ones with the guns

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The thing is Vietnam thrive after and becomes one of south east Asia biggest economy. Afghanistan under Taliban rule on the other hand...

Why dwell in the past? I said now. They have disposable income to even host F1 race, and that thing is a farce in a country's economy

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah, and all it took was a couple genocides and a few more wars!

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 9

Afghanistan should be a prosperous nation, with all the mineral wealth in its mountains. But instead it'll be a repressive failed state,

5 years ago | Likes 37 Dislikes 1

Resource curse

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

Sadly, it's been war-torn since long before extensive ore deposits were discovered there I think.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

Fair, I guess my point was that resources don't really help the situation

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

fundamentalist warlords despoiling its beauty and squeezing the blood from farmers eking out a meager living growing opium.

5 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 1

This is the inevitable result of a poorly planned invasion. Yeah we delayed the inevitable for 20 yr but it WAS inevitable.

5 years ago | Likes 85 Dislikes 9

No it was the state department (as usual) that fucked up the whole thing, giving billions of dollars to warlords and corrupt politicians....

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 8

It was not a poorly planned invasion. It was perfectly executed. We should have left when the Northern Alliance took Kabul in 2001.

5 years ago | Likes 11 Dislikes 1

That would be the difference between “planned” and “executed”.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This is what's expected. The Taliban was only able to defeat the cities in 1994 when the Russians cut oil subsides to Kabul.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

The afghans will cede grown but strengthen their positions.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Not this time. Kandahar just fell along with many other major cities. Embassies are pulling out of Kabul. I give it a month until they fall.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Yeah... We'll see

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

sadly the Afghan military and police got like 0 will to fight, swedish soldiers who helped train them said 10 yr's ago it was a lost cause

5 years ago | Likes 32 Dislikes 0

Why die for a nation you don't really believe in? It's not like the US and our millitary- these soldiers have seem regime after regime.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

This exactly. There's no national unity. It's just tribes.

5 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

The Russians started the whole mess years ago

5 years ago | Likes 9 Dislikes 2

This mess started well before that. The region has always been in turmoil, even in Medieval days. But much of the modern strife can be >

traced back to immediately Post-WW2, and the British are partly to blame too.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Yep. Prayer will fix everything.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 1

Good thing we spent like 20 years there blowing trillions of dollars! But everyone thinks Bush is cute now so its okay for him at least.

5 years ago | Likes 41 Dislikes 5

Inshallah. Am I right?

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 1

If only this had been predicted 20 year ago (it was). Could have saved trillions of dollars and thousands of American lives.

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 5

It’s a cursed choice. Constantly be vindicated by history and be angry, or be wrong over and over but also happy because of the delusion?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Twenty years ago? Read some Kipling from the turn of the Century. The same thing has happened over there for most of history.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Afghanistan is the graveyard of empires. It can never be conquer nor tamed.

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 5

Even the dirt is hostile

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

It can be flattened into a giant glass plate.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 2

The taliban seem to be doing a pretty good job of it.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 1

That's because they're the only ones who speak a language that the whole country understands.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 1

Just a working, tax paying Australian. I am so sorry ?. I have a daughter, and it breaks my heart what is happening in Afghanistan.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 2

My sister died in Afghanistan working to help them get past the Taliban. While I understand the need for the US to pull troops out 1/?

5 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 3

After 20 years, there were so many failed opportunities to make things better. The fact that all the rebuilding got outsourced to defence 2/

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 3

The invasion was a farce, and motivated by the disgusting policies of Cold War CIA. It was inevitably going to fail, regardless of how hard

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

we fought and died for a "democratic" Afghanistan

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Contractors who literally paid off the Taliban to keep their workers safe gave them a source of cash to stay afloat and keep fighting. 3/

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 3

I worry most for the children and girls of Afghanistan who finally had a chance to learn to read and be taught and now their future may 4/

5 years ago | Likes 18 Dislikes 3

Stolen from them. Not the US job to be world police, but these people deserve so much better than what they've been given.

5 years ago | Likes 19 Dislikes 2

It _is_ the job of US, along other permanent members of security council to be the world police. None have done a good job of that though

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 1

Fucking stellar. You should write a post on the subject. If you do, tag me?

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 2

Afghanistan is a joke , its army and gov. are useless. Less than a dozen Talbian militants so called "conquered" your Zaranj Province..

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

without firing a single bullet because there was no one on the driving seat, no police, no government and definitely no army. I

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

it was there just for grabs. Stop blaming everyone else. You people have no love for your own country. Half of your brigade got bought out..

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

by the taliban as a result they got a bunch of armored vehicles. You guys couldnt even bother learning how to fix a helicopter !! what were.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

you guys doing. Afghans just wanted fish they never wanted to learn how to fish. Being poor and unambitious is deadly

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

This breaks my heart. There is an entire generation of women that tasted freedom only to be forced back into being husband’s property.

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

Ah yes. Another war the US walks away from with zero progress made and countless deaths on both sides. Good times.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 4

At least the US isn't spending yet another decade bombing the rubble.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 2

True. Sadly yet another new and improved terrorist organization will emerge and we'll be back at

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

And those goat fuckers the taliban are kidnapping girls as young as 12 and marrying them to their soldiers

5 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

I mean, the Afghan government only had like 2 decades to prepare for self-rule...

5 years ago | Likes 499 Dislikes 37

American taliban still in full swing almost 250 years later.

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 9

A NATO approved self-rule*

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

Too busy being corrupt. They learned that from their US masters

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 2

Anywhere near the holy land (where they banned the printing press) is going to be fucked over until religion isn't a factor.

5 years ago | Likes 8 Dislikes 5

It is not so easy to build up a nation from scratch, especially with rampant corruption. Takes more time than just 20 years.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 3

Do you genuinely believe the Afghan government is to blame for the state of Afghanistan?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

The corruption between those leaders and the warlords (sometimes no difference) meant they didnt do what was required to keep enough

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

capability to resist Taliban takeover. This was the inevitable result as soon as support was withdrawn. Its been this way a very long time

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

there, and before the US arrived.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Also, yes, fuck the Taliban. I'm just saying more should have been done to prepare the Afghani government.

5 years ago | Likes 53 Dislikes 7

Slightly pedantic, but just Afghan. Afghani is the currency!

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

They did want help and actively encouraged corruption or the Taliban in private. If they wanted change, it would have happened.

5 years ago | Likes 22 Dislikes 0

They didn't*

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

It’s not like they are taking it by force. The gov now is just giving everything away. I’m convinced they always wanted taliban rule.

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Don't think that's a fair assessment, bud.

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 8

Our fucked up leaders looked only after their own self interest and they played with foreign leaders like toys. Foreign leaders didn’t

5 years ago | Likes 270 Dislikes 13

You are not hated and unwanted amongst my friends. What action would best benefit your interests at this time?

5 years ago | Likes 21 Dislikes 0

All avenues to help have been shut. People including my family are trapped. Embassies and borders are closed. Only a golden visa can help.

5 years ago | Likes 13 Dislikes 0

Who are these people taking over an entire country and how exactly are we as a global community supposed to stop them?

5 years ago | Likes 10 Dislikes 0

Are you saying you don't know who the Taliban are or asking for further clarification?

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 2

Clearly a military presence by a foreign country did nothing to help. So what's left to do? How do you stop these people?

5 years ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Most of the militants are from a very illiterate part of the country who are then used by Pakistan’s intelligence for this exact purpose…

5 years ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

listen to the voices of reason who usually weren’t the most the liked and popular. Instead they aimed to please and looked for good reports

5 years ago | Likes 189 Dislikes 7

they can present to their donors abroad. Total mismanagement and fuckery on all sides

5 years ago | Likes 149 Dislikes 5

This thread should be a stand alone post.

I'm sorry ☹️, the state of affairs is very sad

I'm just going to guess that there are a select group of politicians and officials that are going to retire very, very rich, somewhere else.

5 years ago | Likes 50 Dislikes 0

...

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 0

I dont get why its America's problem at all. Let the rule and destroy themselves if they want to. Why should we step in?

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 4

Well read a little bit about the country's history and the role the US played in the affairs leading up to today. The US isn't blameless

5 years ago | Likes 5 Dislikes 0

Still I feel like after two decades of dependence, you should give them more than 2 years heads up that we're pulling out all at once.

5 years ago | Likes 12 Dislikes 4

To create a working government, tax system, and infrastructure, and army takes decades. I don't know what people suspected, this outcome >

5 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 4

was obvious even if the Afghanistan gov't was 100% not corrupt. They were doomed as soon as we pulled out.

5 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 1

If they were not so corrupt they wouldn't have fallen like this. They outnumber and outgun the Taliban by a wide margin.

5 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

There is most certainly corruption, and that plays a part of the losses. But it is not the entirety of the losses. For reference: >

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

We did try for decades, not particularly well, but an effort was made

5 years ago | Likes 7 Dislikes 0

No, we tried for war for decades. A war we didn't even really end. I'm talking infrastructure, post-WWII Japan and Germany "guidance." So >

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 4

far, that is the only times functioning allied governments have come out of post-war territories, and that took about 30-40 years.

5 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 2

$36B on governance and development (lots lost or wasted) including infrastructure, most of which has been not maintained and/or destroyed
