I was looking for this pic this morning and couldn't find it, just storing it for reference.

For reference, this is somebody working two jobs at 40 hours a week each for minimum wage, after taxes, per my napkin math.

EDIT: here is a repost with images from the actual employee budgeting handbook:

This is from 2013 and even then it was stupid.

What freaking year is this from?

well...I'm sure this was accurate...in the 1990s.

For what year? 1993?

America, you are being fucking had. You go riot until they get it

The question is who the target audience for this is. Companies aren't going to argue against their best interest

So.Car payment but no gas? Not car maintenance? No clothes? No medical expenses? Even assuming you accept poor people should only work and have nothing fun this budget still doesn't allow for a productive workers.

A goal. To spend 25dollars every day of your life? I go thru many weeks not doing that. Most people do not spend money every single day.

Health insurance $20? What?

1 year ago | Likes 20 Dislikes 0

It's health insurance Michael, what could it cost, $20?

1 year ago | Likes 14 Dislikes 0

Like in the 70’s maybe.

I know it's ridiculous etc, but I'm wondering how old thile original document is.

Rent 600$ ... LOL. You cant even get a room in a 3 bd house with 2 other people for that, here.

I love how they're all "just get a second job"

I got in trouble at work once because one of the corporate fucks asked what my second job was. I told him I don't have one, and the fact that he just assumed I do tells me he knows exactly how poorly we're paid. I still get asked probably twice a month if I have/what my second job is.

Also holy fuck, these prices are from the 80's or something

Rent $600.00? More like $1000. - $1200. And you can double that car payment, too. Which century is this sample budget from?

i have usaa, so i get slightly cheaper insurance for my home, only, and it's 125 a month. i'm insured for the min, but they add like 75k for belongings, even though i know damn well i'm not getting jack without pictures or receipts, and don't have that much anyway.

Yeah I pay 1800.

I'd guess roommates and a cheap car.

Acording to https://www.rentcafe.com/average-rent-market-trends/us/ the average rent in the US is $1,761

1 year ago | Likes 16 Dislikes 0

Could also ad that in Sweden the average for a 3 room apartment is like $750 so i guess the US got a lot of extremely overpriced rentals that drive the average up

1 year ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

Yeah it def depends on what part of the US you're looking at. My state in the more urban areas you're looking at 1200-2k+ depending what you want, but go out to the outskirts and it's far cheaper (under 1k).

i'd rather see the median, cities like NY, SF, LA Chicago are going to skew things.

1 year ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

Median is apperently $1,400 so not that big difference

1 year ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

20% less, certainly significant. I don't have an extra 360 magically accumulating every month

Don’t forget the laughable $20 a month for health insurance. McDonald’s is probably counting on state insurance for their employees. Which they can only have access to if they don’t make enough money. State sponsored fast food.
