Time to commit that Social and moral atrocity you've been thinking about.
GarryrGarry
I'm black listed from owning a gun because of mental health risk to my self no one else.
PantLord
The idea of having been born an American is truly terrifying to me. I’d have been bankrupt by 16. I doubt I’d have made it to 30.
GrassssssssTastesBad
Yeah I was told I won't get coverage for a medication I literally can't get off of. I've tried for 2 years
anironingboard
I’ve talked to many therapists (I’m tryna be one soon). We hate insurance, too. Bunch of butts
iluvplants
But...but if we fix it, it is...sOcIALiSm!! /s
HeHeHebieJeebies
you should show up all unexpected like and sit down at the desk of the person that denied you so you can chat about it... up close.

My friend lost his arm and went on disability paid for by his insurance, when he was fitted with a prosthesis, =>
they claimed he was all better & cancelled his policy. They stopped paying for anything!
Vaerosi
Sounds like my therapist today. Told me therapy isn't for "talking about my feelings", and it's not "medically necessary" to see me anymore.
I guess since I'm not actively suicidal near daily anymore, I'm all better! Despite listing multiple issues I'd still like to work through.
That really sucks I’m so sorry.
Cats2cats
If in US appeal process. Check your state rules. 2nd appeal denial should kick it to a state review panel if a 3d appeal. Varies by state.
rubypilgrim
yep. Normal insurance procedure. If they pay, they pay less than obligated to. Have to challenge every damned little thing with them.
XRay0976
Yay you!!!
gtotherizzle
Yeah most only cover like 6 sessions....if they cover anything at all. Therapists near me don't accept my insurance
NationalGeographical
Insurance wouldn't give me therapy because apparently all of my issues are pre-existing. Yeah, no shit...
OhIfIMust
I've heard too many people get told by their docs, when diagnosed with a mental issue: "You've made it this far, why bother treating now?"
[deleted]
This is what sucked more than anything. They don't get that I ASKING FOR HELP don't just say no. This is why people give up jeez.
DudeintheDesert971
That’s the reason why insurance companies are run by doctors! Right?!
davemagos1
They aren't considered doctors anymore and they sit in advisory positions. Sold souls
MDs don't typically specialize in mental health care. More than a few are actively harmful, so ignorant are they of how it all works.
afmgreentea
My insurance goes the way of "just because it worked last time doesn't mean we should approve it again"
wildkitty34
Doesn't really help but just know you can use therapy ad a tax write off. So still costs you up the wazoo but if you continue therapy just
Ask for a receipt of how much you spent the previous year from the therapist and put it as a write off for other health care money spent.
Can also be used for everything insurance is being a stuck up about. Or ask for sliding scale or therapist can contest and request sessions
SacrificialClam
Congrats! Insurance also determined I do not need a second leg to perform my job efficiently, and so they approved me back to work /s
imakespellingerrorsonpurpose
Would that be considered practicing medicine without a license ? insurance deciding you don't need more treatment?
WyldStallionz1
I now have to call a fourth psych place for adult adhd testing because my insurance is so difficult to work with everyone stopped taking it.
jeffonroadtrip9000
Assault the insurer and then you can sue them for cutting your treatments!
iDrinkIsleLays
fight and get more time if that's an option. I got dropped back into the society too early and it's killing me slower but still
ThatOneGuyWhoDidThatOneThingAtThatOnePlaceThatOneTime
Same happened to my bf. Not only that, but the insurance decided that he was somehow OVERpayed for his visits and wanted $1.5k refunded
brotherbuzz

sounds about time for the American Dream to come true, get a lawyer and SUE SUE SUE
If One has no money to pay for therapy then from where would the money come to pay for a lawyer. Lmao
TitanTickler
Insurance companies practice medicine in the US?
starkstout07
No, of course not. That would be immoral, unethical, & illegal. They will, however, no pay for things, which absolutely affects what ppl do.
The US is insane.
Preaching to the choir, friend.
faethorferenc
Congrats to be a member of the society again. And remember, always trust people in accounting positions more than doctors who studied.
Besides the sarcasm, sorry to hear mate. I know its frustrating, such behaviour is also common in europe.
gooddoggy10
As an accountant, who works for a butter company, I wouldn't trust me about butter. So it makes sense to trust those health care accountants
NinjaGrizzlyBear
How many tonnes of butter are you accountable for? Is there a chance I have ingested some of your butter in my lifetime?
To be one of the meeting slides we produce up to 640 million pounds of cheese &140 million pounds of butter a year.
If you live in the midwest of the United states then probably. But not to much of it makes its way to either coast.

Insurance would tell me my patients coverage would be dropped unless I scheduled a call on Sunday. These are critically I’ll ICU patients/
I would have them schedule it at 330 in the morning. They would tell me that’s unreasonable, then I would tell them Sunday calls are a joke
TheFutureIsDead
Insurance is a fucking joke. Telling us what is "good" for us and what not.
RGVhome
What would happen? Did they become more reasonable?
They would call at that time, irritated and still deny coverage to patients because of little things. Things that were not because of the/
The patient, more stuff like the patient needs to be in floor status or the patient needs to be in rehab. We’re waiting for rehab to come.
That's awful. I'm so sorry that's happening
