I’m in the military and we were looking for a place to hang out after pizza.

For context, the one that got uncomfortable was a military folk because their wife was wondering why he was at a furry event that none of us realized was happening.

The venue was cool, the drinks were cheap, and the music was…interesting. It was fun to see how people different from what I’m used to lived and were happy.

Tbh, I was having fun too, but I had homework. Anyway, do what makes you happy. That’s what life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is all about.

If you're not hurting anyone, and it makes you happy, have at it and more power to you!
I support you 100%.
Fuck judging people for just existing.

if you treat furries like dogs, in that you have to be chill or calm and friendly and accepting, then you can probably get along with almost any of them. It does not hurt to inform them of their status as best being and scritches or pats if they show signs of being comfortable around you and don't flinch when you reach slowly for them.

The ones that withdraw from touch are cats. They exist too. Basically you thank them and let them go back to the book they are pretending not to read.

You would be surprised at what communities are just openly welcoming even if you’re not part of it. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve done drugs, or gotten drunk and somehow ended up at a bar, club, convention, or something that I definitely shouldn’t have been at, and the people were just supremely fucking cool and welcoming as fuck.
