what kind of chair is this?

my friend rented an apartment with furniture and this "chair" was in the bathroom. we believe if does not belong there, but we have no clue about what kind of chair it is!
on one hand, it looks uncomfortable as hell... on the other hand, being uncomfortable and having those leather pieces, it might be something more... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
any ideas?
