My university hospital employer has a “March Madness” for vasectomy clinics. Sports on TV, pre-Covid was a big $$ maker each year.
CoarseAndSalty
Shh.. they need this..
pr3viso
Got mine after the 2nd kid. No regurts.
Apothecarius
After I get done at the Toyotathon, I'll have to check out the Vasectathon.
You joke, but that's the sign oppoisite.
ADroidWithAHat
Safe and Sound.
usernametakenisthestoryofmylife
Oh COOL - I love a good vasecathon!
DocMilsap
These kind of events are a lot of fun. Last time I went, I had a ball.
Flortzweich
I think you meant you lost a ball (or two)

Best $35 I ever spent.

$1700 for me, worth every penny
redditmcredditface
excellent. do that. you go ID. Also, where is all the religious hubub about that? almost like they just want to control WOMENS bodies...
This is an add for a urologist office in the strip mall. ACROSS THE STREET is a Presbyterian Hospital with a street names for it.
PotatoFaceSmurf666
Boise, I'm assuming. It's Idaho. Sterilize them all.
parkerh17
Boise is actually reasonable progressive, the rest of the state.... not so much.
StormWinterwind
This should be common practice. As a man: this was neither painful nor risky to my health, now my partner doesn’t need hormonal BC
AtsaMattaForMe
Bose? What about Sony, ID?
SirJamesMonster42
It's a couple of hours from Blaupunkt, iirc.
i think that's on the way to Sennheiser
AwwDamn321
Thank you. I thought of this immediately.
littlecoatfatguy
"Let me set you up to shoot blanks, and I'll give you a free pass to the gun range" is a hell of a mixed metaphor.
skinnyarbuckle
Not in Idaho.
MCNewYorkLives
"if you decide to shoot blanks in the sack, well let you shoot the real thing at the range"! How's this?

DadsHumor
Save that for your hidden bedroom gym sock.
I think they ask that you refrain from doing that for a few days afterward

What bothers me, is for women, the equivalent has archaic restrictions. "35 y/o, has children, permission from your husband. "
peachesforme
Or future husband in some case
ahorseelbowdeepinme
Here me out: offer to pay each person $500 to get a vasectomy. If they have it reversed they have to pay the $500 back.
HighFunctioningAlcoholic
Vasectomy reversals are not cheap.
LupusLilium
Or have a 100% success rate.
If you can't afford to pay back the $500 you do not want a kid at that point in your life.
OopsAllEgg
This sounds awfully close to eugenics not gonna lie
kaoticgirl
And open to anyone
The difference being this is 100% optional.
NaughtButOne
Not entirely. Some people need $500 a lot more than others. That's where it gets shady.
Yeah, but $500 isn't exactly life changing money. And if you think someone might impulsively do it for $500 then they shouldn't have kids.
starlord56
Sure $500 dollars is life changing. Thats a pay check before Taxes. Or a year of cheap food.Starve for 3 weeks and say its not life changing
$500 can absolutely be life changing money if it's the difference between getting evicted this month, or repairing your car to go to work. >
Skawomplious
^ That's the eugenics part.
SeasonedCitizen
I'm in favor of Idaho men getting vasectomies. Mostly the politicians before they reproduce.
fstngutz
It’s funny. They run a vasectomy program in Idaho during march madness. It’s calls vas madness. Paid outta pocket for both of mine.
ReverseTrapTsukasa
JoeGrunt
I'm in favor of forced vasectomies & retroactive abortions for all politicians.
feryooday
I wish, except I feel like most politicians are geriatric ? so, too late
dfpogue42
It might have been better had the politicians father been vaccinated before they reproduced.
IjustsaywhatIthink
I've lived here all my life and I assure you, the politicians AND most of their supporters need this.
CooCooCaChew
If plan B fails, there's always Retroactive birth control
PizzaStation
The yokels in eastern Oregon want to join Idaho. I'm in favor of letting them.
I got a vasectomy in my mid-20s. I had to practically beg the doctor to do it. He was still trying to talk me out of it as he was starting.
The701
"Tell ya what, Doc, any kids I end up with, you will babysit them for free. Any time of day or night, no warning, and no time limits."
Spankmearoni
81 days until my vasectomy!
RisingPhoenix92
How was the recovery?
Not too bad. A day or two with a bag of frozen peas, and about a week of a lingering but mild "kicked in the nuts" feeling
Hereagain
Unironically I think this would do more to stop abortions than almost anything.
MarkySpaceMagnet
Try to explain to a conservative how education, and available birth control, can reduce the number of abortions.
I've tried. They don't care. But when I've brought this up they don't have much answer for why it's a bad idea.
because it's not the MAN's responsibility. It's that little hussy who opens her legs. /s/s/s/s/s//s/s for the love of god /s/s/s/s/

I got a vasectomy and my wife stopped having abortions. 100% true story.

There isn't really a limit to the number of pregnancies a many can cause. Vs only 1 per woman. Math is pretty clear.
DefinitelyNotMadeOfBees
Maybe, but "stopping abortions" shouldn't be a goal. The goal should be ensuring women have complete control over their bodies.
stealthismeme
Should be and is are two very different things and
I will never have an abortion, but I will always support a woman's right to make that decision for herself.
AxelBeingCivil
I agree, but there's a significant portion of the country that wants as few abortions as possible and this would serve their goals.
camn333
I get the feeling that's the portion of the population that doesn't really care if the women they have sex with end up pregnant.
Much to my eternal shock, there *are* actually folks out there who are genuinely "pro-life". They're usually Catholic and vehemently (1)
committed to their social teachings too, which means social support and the like. Not all Catholics are, but there are definitely some. (2)
thehappyrunner
This ^ There are plenty of good programs that would also reduce abortions. Plenty of room for cooperation here if not for the hate.
There's room for cooperation with serious actors but, sadly, anti-abortion activism isn't approached with a mindset of harm reduction. A (1)
huge portion of anti-abortion activists do so out of a belief in one - and precisely one - mode of proper existence, and believe that (2)
InkyBlinkyPinkyAndClyde
If you're talking about religious people, that's more about stopping out-of-wedlock sex. This wouldn't meet the goal at all. If they were /1
just trying to lower abortion rates, they'd be all for sex ed and birth control. But they're not, because they're trying to stop /2
unmarried people, particularly women, from having sex. Unwanted pregnancy is the punishment, they don't want them finding ways around /3
