Modern hollowpoints, starting with the original Black Talon brand, were invented at the request of the FBI to improve the safety of innocent bystanders. Agents were wounding or killing bystanders despite hitting the bad guys, because they were shooting all the way through the bad guys. Simpler hollowpoints plugged up when shooting through clothes and didn't expand. By making petals that very aggressively spread, but stayed attached, they served as parachutes, stopping the bullet inside the perp.

I knew they could fill a hole on your heart. I just didn't know it was with lead.

I'm not even really a fan of guns, but Jerry Miculek is a legend.

I believe a fan of guns is more accurately known as a rotary cannon.

You may be thinking of one of those 5 barrel 1 trigger black powder monstrosities.

If your gatling gun doesn't have a hand crank, I'm not interested. Or even better, the og Puckle gun, I think the cylinder rotated to meet up with a single barrel. I'm not a gun fan, but I watch Forgotten Weapons for the history and machining content. Puckle and Whitworth's guns were amazing and each ahead of their time.

I thought it was deep web nonsense

It was a website pretending to be creating "bonzai kittens" by raising them in bottles, etc. Early silly internet hoax, early enough that people took it seriously. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bonsai_Kitten

Was this video recorded for fun or as a demonstration?

2 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

To the best of my 2nd hand knowledge, that's the owner of a factory that makes the ammunition. So probably fun, but written off as a business expenses because it's also a demonstration.

Don't get me wrong, the CIWS is loud. But it's the 5" canon that you hear with your whole skeleton.
