I don't want to tell my friends, so I'm telling you, Imgur.
Mostly I haven't talked to HR because there's nothing to report. They're wonderful and have been immensely supportive and positive. Never considered myself particularly emotional but a few of them pulled me aside to say thanks and a few other nice things to me. I got really choked up and had to excuse myself.
A lot of me is afraid to get attached to work colleagues because the world can change really fast, but I really hope these are my 'forever' people.
I'm pretty sure they don't read Imgur, so I'm going to say 'fuck it' and name names: Jingjing, you're a brilliant researcher and have a great sense of humor. You are among the most insightful people I've ever met. Charlene, I am convinced you can do absolutely anything; you're a phenomenal researcher, developer, instructor, and speaker. Will, you're an outstanding lead: you find time to ship code, review PRs, design, sync with people, teach new hires, and still do research. How in the heck? David, I'm tremendously impressed by the depth of understand you have in every field and the level of compassion and understanding you've shown to people that don't have the same background as you. Jin, Jon, John, Doran, you've said I'm nice to you, but really you're easy to be nice to -- you work hard, take feedback well, and are each uniquely capable of doing what you do. Andy, thank you; you're driven, articulate, sharp, and empathetic. There's a reason good people are drawn to you. Thank you for building this group.
And to you, user sub: I bet there are people in your office that like you, too, but they're just too shy to say it. Continue to be excellent to each other.

They probably won’t be “forever” coworkers, you can make new friends. When your coworkers are also your friends it makes work much easier.

yah, tell them - you CAN make life long connections with work mates, that does happen
OhIfIMust
This is a nice change, but don't let it cloud your judgement and leave you open to being taken advantage of!
AngryGraphicDesigner
Agreed, but would change a bit…don’t let it stop you from making changes so your career, and income, continue to grow

One of my coworkers loves me and follows me around everywhere. The other is standoffish and screams a lot but we manage...

I work from home. My coworkers are a big goofy dog and an old ass cat.

Don't tell us, tell them! It will matter, and good for you for being such a positive person!
AngryGraphicDesigner
Agreed! One of the most empowering changes I made at work is focusing on the positive around. Often means telling someone, which can be a

perceive and treat you. Think you’ll like the outcome.
