I have this issue with a lot of movie review sites

"as a 35yo female engineer I thought transformers was a terrible movie"

probably because it is aimed at 15yo boys

sorry, that doesnt hold water. if you take up the torch of a franchise, you inherit the fans. you do them right or you dont do it at all

By using the name ghost busters, they targeted anyone that loves the originals. It also looks like a petty attempt for attention

by that account any remix of the 80's song are automaticly good for youngsters...they redid a bunch of french ones with 'pop' and 'cool'

singers in france a few years back. the album didnt do that great despite mass spamming on media: cause originals are a ton better.

As a 40yo man, I loved the shit out of transformers.

Okay, but remaking an old property exclusively for an entirely new audience doesn't make much sense to me.

artistically no, but movies make money, they pay to make movies so that movies make money, also licensing expires so to keep property makenew

so you mean "entertaining the next generation with a new but established story doesn't make sense to me"

Yes. If an old story doesn't speak to the new audience, there's no point in remaking it when instead you can just create a new story. 1/2

I get the argument of having a safety net by reusing old material, but again, there's not much point if it doesn't resemble the old stuff.

...money

And that kind of answer is what gets people complaining, even if it is accurate.Which it totally is.

They'd like the original more.

more than one movie is allowed to exist at the same time.

10 years ago | Likes 6 Dislikes 5

and more than one can be good, the one you used for example doesnt qualify however

10 years ago | Likes 4 Dislikes 0

@OP, @Ekibwurm is right. They can do the remake, but the original was so good. This just feels like a cash grab and PC parade. It's sad.

10 years ago | Likes 3 Dislikes 0

yup... and its not the first one. conan, robocop (altho that one wasnt too terrible) judge dread.total recall.they took all the 80s classics

I mean I understand the desire to revise things and make improvements, but all of those movies failed to improve upon the source material.

the movie isnt even released yet? i didnt realise there was an international body set up to qualify these thigns

10 years ago | Likes 2 Dislikes 0

You just said the kids will love it before being released. So you can assume it will be a good reboot but we cannot assume it will be bad?

10 years ago | Likes 1 Dislikes 0

Im against it because I the all female cast wasn't about the story - its about an attention grab. I feel like they sold out the franchise
