Tarantulas make excellent pets, well most of them. Some species are touchy but a lot are awesome!

How long do they live?

Males only live 6-8 years. Females live 20-30. Poor guys.

I want one that acts like a dog. I'd teach it to fetch things. Also I would like one without those fore-arm spindle things that poke

The tiny front legs aren't sharp. Unless you mean the fangs, but they keep them tucked in unless they want to bite.

meant the urticating hairs, which i read can cause some allergic reaction type stuff even if they don't mean it.

Ah yeah. The hairs on the legs can cause some small irritation too, but the worst ones are in the butt and the spider flicks them backwards.

Yeah I made the mistake of cuddling my rose hair to my neck when I first got her. Itchy for a week.

Lol yeah she won't get much bigger. It is about halfway grown now. It's too young to identify the gender yet.
