Yep. Letterman was an ass. Leno was an ass. Fallon is kinda dumb but good hearted. Colbert is smart but treats the audience as dumb. The two good ones, to me, were Craig Ferguson and Conan. The first broke rules in ingenious ways, while Conan honed the craft to master level.
Loved it too. Watched it once over the course of a week. Then binged it all in one night on mushrooms with my gf at the time. It was awesome both times.
Also, realize that these bits were heavily vetted. Jay knew what was coming at least a day in advance, but likely 2 or 3 weeks in advance and had a team of very talented writers that would help him look like he was about half as talented as Carson.
Seriously, everything is vetted and rehearsed in Late Night talk shows, except for Paul Rudd always showing the same clip to Conan instead of the actual movie he's in.

Oh . . . that's an upvote.
NiftyGoblin
I always loved her voice so cute and raspy
PinkyTheUnicorn2
That joke alone is funnier than any joke Jay Leno ever told.
NoQuestionMarksInDeclarativeSentences
Christ, that's a sexy voice.
stevekemerer
Fast forward to today, wow has her voice gotten rough, how many packs a day?

When I watched that movie as a teenager I was like "I don't care about anybody else in this dumbass movie but her."
NoQuestionMarksInDeclarativeSentences
Shannon Elizabeth's breasts. Alyson Hannigan's everything else.
LarvaLamp
Without sounding creepy (because it's the iNTerNeT), she's got a sexy voice.
Chouilste
Yeaahhh not anymore lol
LarvaLamp
Nah, I still like it.
m0problems
Can't say I would describe it that way, but it's certainly interesting. Seems sort of mid-century
darksideofthemoonmoon
I’d have to take up smoking again, smoke 20 packs of Camels without filters, and I might sound like her. And I’m a guy.
strangerbuddy
She pronounced and enunciated her words in an articulate manner. Plus the husky voice. Stupid sexy phonology.
SpecialAgentPinkfinger
It's not uncommon for Jay's interviewees to be funnier than him.
tubbers06
That's a good interviewer then, right? Shouldn't we remember the guest more than the host?
SpecialAgentPinkfinger
I mean kinda, but Letterman did the same but was actual funny himself too.
TheyDontKnowAndYouCantTellEm
Letterman was an ass who liked ridiculing some guests. Took me a while to realize that.

Unfortunately with the writers strike it'll probably be a bit longer
Isthe4thtimethecharm
She always plays someone I would get immense joy out of being around. Just that real type of person.
OliverClothesoff70
It’s like she’s channeling Peter Falk as Colombo.
aloharamada
She most definitely is.
NowDoThatVoodooThatYouDo
Two of the funniest people America has ever produced, and also Jay Leno.
