“The exit polls are not results.” Indeed only counted voting ballots matter. Polls suffer from selection bias, and suffer from people not telling what they actually did.

This is why I don't like the current voting system. We need ranked choice voting - that way candidates run on actual policy positions, not just spouting bullshit. The winning candidate can look at their closest competitor and see what policies were the most appealing to that particular electorate, and consider implementing some of those policies in order to win over more voters at the next election.
