#14 Market Basket in MA mostly. Artie Demoulas, 2014. His sisters have control and fired him as CEO, again
yamsonyamsonyams
It happened, indeed, but it was astroturfing as much as anything. He worked with a consulting firm that helped spread tbe word among employees
For a non-unionized group to act like that took a lot of outside organizing, paid for by the ceo
So, it was market baskets version of the tea party, in a way
SOLARvsFACISM
Importantly its Arthur "T" Demoulas, not Arthur "S" Demoulas. I thought that 2014 incident was just a few years ago, which makes me feel old. I went to the Wiki and the company history would make a great soap opera https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demoulas_family I'm sad to learn there is so much drama behind everything. It really is a great supermarket. My family stops in whenever we're in MA or NH

#23 *manufacturer does not guarantee that your tailgate will close and/or latch after using latch points as load bearing points (That's why they don't put it in the manual)
Fahrenheit536
It's also not a fixed point, because the tailgate is hinged and can move, so it makes little sense to use in most cases.
StarscreamAndHutch
Yeah. Someone will definitely ratchet that shit down and destroy the latches.
It is interesting that OEMs havent put hitchpoints on the tailgate considering truck beds have evolved into cargo shorts.
Whoisthisdoctorwho2000
I would assume they don't want to be implicated by design into pick-up owners driving around with the tailgate down in a loaded bed if theres an incident
StarscreamAndHutch
Thats just truck design though. Everyone that uses their truck for utility runs into this.

When RaceTrac had a seasonal cup with unlimited free refills I walked there on my work lunch, drank two cups, and then filled it up again at the slushy machine.

Always weird going through these galleries. Cats...women...memes...weird breeder propaganda...anti-Israeli stuff...anti-feminism...more women...cats...memes. OP certainly has an agenda and I guess thinks sneaking in a handful of their real beliefs will work as long as there are enough cats and near naked women mixed in. Weird account.

#32 is breeder propaganda. Whenever anyone I’ve ever known who doesn’t want kids holds a baby, they want to get rid of the fucking thing as quickly as they can. The only tears are out of disgust and fear of getting puked or pissed on.
sickjessi
Seriously. I work with several women that don't want kids, but they'll happily babysit or what have you. I don't have/want any either, but I'll still help out.
Gadhrach
The first time I held a baby, I was terrified cause I thought I was gonna drop them and then get murdered by the parents. Still happily team no kids.
CausticCake
I dont want kids, but i love holding my niece and nephew. My sister's in-laws dont want kids and i can tell theyre not thrilled being around kids
Gnakenheimer
Never wanted kids of my own. Babysitting was never a problem. Did it a lot for family and neighbourhood kids, but the best part was that the parents will pick them up at the end of the day.
AmyBethMegJo
I love babies! I will hold one any chance I get. But one of my own? I have never wanted that.

The entire story is contained only within FB and Instagram and either she has at least 3 kids, or her daughter has 3 names, because it keeps changing (she's mentioned at the end of #18). The whole thing is most likely some bullshit, like when we all found out Surge made our dicks smaller.

SirButcher
You can be a vegan top athlete, but it requires careful nutrient balance. The same way as for any non-vegan top athlete has to do, so, yeah.
The thing is, most people are stupid, and being on an omnivore diet is far easier if you pay zero attention to what you eat - so, most people. You still will be unhealthy (widely gesture around), but it takes longer than just eating a potato, a tomato and some salad from time to time, as some people imagine what a "vegan diet" consists of...
Whatdoyousaytoanicecupoftea
One of the simplest ways is to coopt an Indian vegie diet. You can knock up a Dahl in 20 minutes.
TheYoungerLance
After the surgery it takes me a little longer than 20 minutes to knock up anybody, let alone a Dahl!
SOLARvsFACISM
There are also currently famous vegan athletes in every professional sport.

#32 luckily we have this thing called higher cognitive function that enables us to disagree with our instincts
SantaFeSuperChief
She wants a baby for what it can do for her, which is the worst reason to want a baby.
AlexHamil
To be fair, that’s why people want anything. The desires of any living being is inherently self motivated. Even altruistic actions are dictated by things you personally care about.
SantaFeSuperChief
That's reductive. Yes, all desires stem from the self, but motivations exist on a spectrum of quality. Wanting a child because you're ready to prioritize their needs differs fundamentally from wanting one to fill a void in yourself. "I want to love and raise a person" vs "I want someone to love me" aren't morally equivalent just because both are self-motivated. The what you want from a child matters enormously and will effect the child enormously.
AlexHamil
I can equally say you were being reductive by assuming the motivations of the woman was so simplistic and trivial based on one sentence she made in an emotional moment.
copperdomebodhi
Sometimes. Instincts override cognitive function when we're agitated enough, for our survival. That's why you hear people say, "I didn't even know I was running until I was a block away."
evilspock
We do. But those instincts, both to reproduce and care for the young, are very strong. They have to be - without them, the species dies out.
And if you master the urge to reproduce and live your whole life without doing so - your genes that allowed you to do so are removed from the gene pool. Evolution in action.
Scattercat
Evolution acts on populations, not individuals. Peddle your bioessentialist gibberish elsewhere or read a book.
MirroredImage
That sounds terrible. I didn't consider what my genes, which are not sentient, might want /s
Severe depression and c-ptsd aside, schizophrenia has a 50% heritability rate, I have a rather painful auditory aversion to loud noise, and I never even liked kids when I *was* a kid.
Do you want me to have a kid? I'll eat it. I'll eat the baby like an environmentally stressed rat. And it'll be the best thing I could do for that baby's future.
evilspock
Your genes "want" (your word, not mine) to reproduce.
Lots of mechanisms evolved that encourage that - a warm fur coat, running fast, flight, having thousands of babies - or in humans, intelligence. But intelligence is a double-edged sword, as it gives you agency. Unlike your genes, you can indeed want things.
Having a child or not is your own choice - it honestly sounds like you should not.
AlexHamil
I wonder what social economic circumstances are leading to the current declining birthrate worldwide.
ChoonahFish
It’s caused by female reproductive suppression. Dr Dani Sulikowski explains:
evilspock
It looks like it's mostly tied to education and longevity.
Being smart means we can be educated. Educated societies live longer - but don't reproduce as much. We don't need to - far fewer of our children die of accident or disease.
But long term, it means a population where the majority of members are not having children - they had them when young and chose to stop. More and more countries are becoming top-heavy in terms of population age - South Korea and Germany are noted examples.
evilspock
In those societies, young people are burdened with the care of the elderly, and it becomes less viable to have kids of your own. It's a vicious cycle.
Kurgesagt actually has done a few videos on this that are excellent. Here's the most recent on Germany's population decline:
https://youtu.be/n-gYFcVx-8Y
boardfuniguess
I was confused about this one lol.... So does she want a baby now or does she want to boot it? Or is she afraid of it? So many emotions not sure what she wants feeling lol
boardfuniguess
*was
evilspock
As a father - all three of those are valid, and you can feel them all simultaneously. Kids can be your greatest joy in life and also be a giant PITA. Parenthood is not a rational act, it's biological. The urges and behaviors are very largely built-in. Babies are both objectively cute and smelly diaper-bombs waiting to happen.
TheSterlingStarling
I may be projecting, but I think it's "holy shit, this is overwhelmingly amazing." I still don't want kids, but meeting my niece was magical.
evilspock
Almost best of both worlds - baby, but without the immediate burden. Be the awesomest aunt ever!
evilspock
Or uncle? Dunno. The point is the awesome.
InitHello
I have 10 niblings and they're great. I have zero children and will never have any, and that's also great.
ZOMGNO
She loved the baby! She said she wanted to take her top off and have skin to skin! She had a very normal reaction to a newborn - she wanted to keep it safe and protect it. She complained she couldn't wipe her tears and they'd get on the baby, because she didn't want to let go!
If you hand me a newborn, i cry too and my body starts producing a bunch of baby-making hormones. Thank God for birth control, cos my body thinks i need to breed more.
boardfuniguess
It's odd how that happens. I thought that was what was going on but I heard, I'm having panic attack) and I was confused lol
ChoonahFish
As a panic attack is often the result of previously repressed feelings being brought to the forefront of one’s consciousness, I read her response as: hidden maternal instincts suddenly presenting themselves, too intense to ignore.
SOLARvsFACISM
As a guy who for some reason gets handed babies I have no interest. But, as soon as a kid hits "can't swear around them" age they are FUN and thats when I think I should have kids. Very excited that some of my friends kids are coming up on "Nerf War" age.
Thenewdef
When all my friends had kids I had this weird thing where they could just hand them to me, they'd stop bawling, look at me, then nod off. I became the 'baby whisperer' and had a baby or two on me at most social gatherings. I didn't mind in the slightest, but it looked a bit odd I guess as I am a big 6'1" dude with a huge beard and a mohawk. Also, did it work on my own kids a few years later? Absolutely 100% not at all.
GreenJayBird
Why does it never work on our own kids?!
