Hey Imgur! As I mentioned in my other post, I do this for a living so I thought I’d share some of my work for the Art Crawl. I already posted my professional graphic design work so here is some of my photography. My contract photo work is a little boring (product shots and real estate) but I love taking scenic photos in my free time.
This first piece was shot on a small lake in Michigan. We vacationed there every year until the owners closed their rental business. I shot this on a clear night just as the sun was setting. It’s one of my favorite shots and it makes me miss this place. The next photo below was taken at the same location. I set up my camera for a long exposure and had all the kids run around with sparklers. I call it “Painting with Light”.
The photo above was shot on the shoreline of Lake Michigan. I love taking weather photos so I snapped this really quick while my family was scrambling to pack up before the storm hit. This is actually a couple shots stitched together as a panorama. The cloud bank was so long I couldn’t fit it into a single photo. I know it looks photoshopped, but all I did was enhance the contrast in the clouds so the details were more clear. The sky really looked like that.
Ok, this one really is Photoshopped haha. It’s a composite of two photos – one exposed for the moon and one exposed for the clouds. I shot it during a full moon with a 300mm zoom lens. I enhanced the contrast and colors and edited the final image to make it look like the clouds are cradling the glowing moon.
This photo was taken while vacationing in the Smokey Mountains. It’s a simple shot but I love the symmetry of it. This was actually shot from across the road with a zoom lens, from an elevated parking area. As The Who said, I could see for miles.
Ok, one last shot. This is one of my oldest and it was taken with a simple point-and-shoot camera before I really got into photography. My wife and I took an Alaskan cruise before we had kids (she was pregnant with our first at the time). If memory serves me correctly this was during the “inland passage” portion of the cruise. It was like being on another planet. I’ve never seen anything like it.

Thanks! There are a lot of things on this planet that fill me with awe too... and a lot of things I’d love to photograph someday.
