I wonder how many times she's used the words "Do you know who I am?!" In a small town, a small business owner is a god. They can make or break you, b/c they typically are BFF's with all the other small business owners. So, they can literally make sure you never work in the town again. And, b/c they're usually the ones with all the money, they can run elections and get their way. There's usually strong "good old boy" connections going on, and they know each others dirt.

Ok, hear me out here, cuz this woman is definitely awful, but - the paper wasn't going to publish her story AND had reported the potentially illegal actions of the source to the police - which, you know... narcs. - but the police chief wanted after the paper anyway because they were investigating his sexual misconduct... shouldn't more of the blame here be on the police chief who confiscated records about HIS story in this raid? Why is so much of the focus on this terrible woman and not the cop?

This feels more like small town drama more than anything but still good to check these people to remind them they're not above the law. Clearly, the restaurant owner was miffed she was denied a liquor license due to a past DUI and the Sheriff saw her as a vehicle to silence the bad press he was about to get.
