We discovered this little guy half dead in our yard. No visible injuries. I know dick about birds so I'm not sure what to do.
I realize the take-out box isn't the most glamorous place to live. It's all I had in a pinch. He's started drinking some water and he's out of the elements and hidden from predators. (Look at those eyes, by the way.)
He either wasn't afraid of me or was too close to death to care. I put on gloves and he allowed me to pick him up to check him out. It's only 82 degrees here so I don't think that's the problem but hell if I know. I'm terrified of birds but I can't bring myself to just let him die. Any suggestions on what to do about this?

Tie it to a stool and drop it in a bucket of water. If it sinks and drowns, it's just a bird, but if it still floats, it's a witch!

Everything dies. Even horses. And potatoes. Worth trying to call a rescue but I doubt they'll be helpful.

You're probably right but I just can't bring myself to let him die in the yard. I think the potato is probably responsible for this.

Sometimes after a bird flies into something it gets shocked. It might just be recovering before it can fly again but you being so close 1/2

2/2 to it and picking it up is probably freaking it out even more. Don't interfere with nature. Should just leave it alone.
