But What If Your Future Husband Wants A Child?
For the past 10 years I've been dealing with uterine fibroids. My menstruation is painful and heavy, the cramps are Hell, and I'm tired of it. I've decided to get a hysterectomy. I'm 28 years old. Most of the closest people in my life are not supporting me in this decision. Worse, they're treating me like I'm an awful person for doing it.
*edit* Sex is probably the worst for me as well. It hurts no matter what my partner and I do.
At least my best friend and therapist are supporting me, which is nice.
dogealicious
good for you! :)
Satash
There are men (like me) that have children and aren't looking to have more. We are looking for someone like you.
Candymostdandy
As someone considering the same thing, it's your fucking body and your choice, everyone else can eat a dick. (you can tell them I said that)
red4182
You are having surgery to fell better? What will doctors do next? It's your body do what it takes to heal it.
TheGreatLemonWheel
Do what's right by you. If people don't support your desire to live a pain-free life, find better people.
frogger44
It's very unnerving since my support team have been really great up until now.
superhighchick
adopt! whoever is giving you shit, they're stupid. ill be adopting my first children :)
Tabaschritar
Hey, your health is the most important thing. If you did want a kid, there are plenty of other options.
Tabaschritar
Options for having a kid, I mean.
frogger44
Very true.
Ithastostop
they love your uterus so much? bronze that shit for them. Merry Christmas, wankers.
frogger44
Lol, yeah. I'll see if I can have that happened.
specificstatistics
I lol'd. Your comment is tops.
AveryB
Wow. I think this is my favorite comment here.
notgoofingoff
As the bf of a woman who dealt with them for near a decade, do anything you can to ease the daily pain, you deserve a pain free life.
ArtisanDwarfCabbage
As a woman fighting to get a hysterectomy for Endometriosis, I hope the surgery goes well and ignore the idiots who don't support you!
NomDeImguerre
So, you're saying the whole fucking you thing is now a viable option, unlike before, and is actually an unironic request to do so?
randomfacts
all I've seen from us is that we always support others, no matter what. we support you, and we are awesome. best part? you are ONE OF US.
GoodGuyOP
Fellow imgurian... you have my support as well.
frogger44
Really appreciate it.
GoodGuyOP
You are welcome... Be you!
irishprincess1990
Your body, your call. Good luck with the surgery, let us know you're ok.
fairycheese
Just wondering if you've had the implant at all? It's a common side effect for it to completely stop your periods (worked for me)
frogger44
I never had the implant.
peacefrog217
I am sorry OP. All 4 of my aunts, my mother and three cousins have had this, and i will one day too. If you need to talk, let me know!
chessislife
What does your doctor recommend?
frogger44
Hysterectomy. Having the fibroids surgically removed will cause scar tissue to form and make it difficult to have kids anyways.
BuiltForSin
You need to do what eve is healthiest for you. If you want kids later than you can always adopt. not let them make this harder for you.
kelvinzero
My wife had to do this for fibroids as well. She is much happier now.
wwny
Ask them if they can give you three reasons they decided to have kids that don't start with some version of "I wanted..." or "We wanted..."
shadowlev
I wouldn't trust your uterus to bear a healthy child, no offense.
frogger44
None taken. I already had my right ovary removed when I was 16. Me and my reproductive system don't like each other.
ratlyff
The people that aren't supporting you would prefer that you suffer. Fuck those people.
Glorydazegaming
I know your pain and I wish they'd let me get a hysterectomy! Do what's best for you OP. They don't live with the pain or the consequences x
ZaphodBbx
Your decision. People may have opposing opinions, but this isn't something that they get a vote on.
Savveh
Do what you need to do OP! This is your choice, and if you want children later, there's always adoption. Best of luck to you.
realbadmammerjammer
I'm 24. Had mine at 22. It's been the best ever. I'm here for you if you have questions!
iSargasm
Go you! I'm about to be 25 and I'm getting the same bullshit.
issajean
I went through a dozen doctors over five+ years before I found one who would sterilize me. I feel your pain, and am proud of you.
frogger44
What's really messed up is that some people think I'll be less of a woman because of it. Ugh.
data2dyne
im supporting you from the internet, you do what you gotta do OP
frogger44
Thanks. :D
data2dyne
I also offer non-biased opinions, if you ever want one drop me a line
seanieM
Good for you, but crucially, do you want kids?
frogger44
No I do not. I've never desired to go through pregnancy and labor. Cancer runs in my family and I have other issues as well.
Dontevenbotherasking
Then there is nothing holding you back! Sucks that people almost never understand that not all girls dream of children. Respect to you!
