First off, if you are otherwise healthy it's unlikely you need to see your doctor or go to the emergency room if you get flu-like symptoms. Emergency rooms are already over capacity which means you will get to wait and wait until they can squeeze you in between their "true" emergencies (like strokes, or heart attacks). Stay at home and rest (and save your money!) if you can. Obviously, if you are elderly, immunocompromised, or younger than 2 years (or other "high risk" group) this may be different.
Furthermore, there isn't a pill that magically "cures" flu. Tamiflu (oseltamivir) is often given but is very controversial if it really works (and can have some nasty side effects). Latest research indicates that if it does anything, it may work to decrease the duration of symptoms by 15-17 hours. So before you shell out your hard earned cash for a prescription, do some web searching about the truth of Tamiflu and make an educated decision if it's worth it.
