I do think he's fun with a lot of insights, but man. Even with his expertise, so much of it boils down to "here's how to make pants and jacket FUN!" with the odd exception for "here's how you can make an open button-up look good if you're absurdly attractive!"

You know how every other tech startup is housed in a brownstone warehouse that could survive a WWII bombing run but it's just Mac Books and beanbag chairs? That's because those cities used to be full of manufacturing jobs with big fuck-off machines worked on by big fuck-off blue collar workers. Then those jobs went out to the suburbs because the labor was cheaper. Then THOSE factories closed when the companies moved out of America to exploit workers even harder. The jobs are never coming back.

They're never coming back just like they were never going to start manufacturing engine blocks in the the middle of downtown Chicago again. If they did somehow come back they're either coming back with robots doing the work or without the union labor that gave those workers a comfortable living and economic security. We're just going to get all the negatives of an assembly line PLUS the tech-douche gig-economy Uber-ization of the assembly line.

You're right! We need a app for regular jobs. You sign up, you see what is available, you take the job and you get paid at the end of the day. Now if only we could get rid of all those pesky worker's rights and protections that surely exist only for keeping geniuses like me from getting rich. /s

Exactly! All these people who are like “the factory jobs will come back” obviously haven’t been in one since the 1960’s. They are using robots and ai at fast food places, do you really think that if they have to build brand new factories that it will be using meat sacks for labor? Really?! Even if they did, do you think that they would pay more than minimum wage (assuming he doesn’t repeal that next…)

Even at minimum wage, only a lunatic would want to start that business. They'd be competing with Chinese imports and the tariff numbers have changed 4(?) times in the last week, you can't possibly just start a business with the assumption that the tariff will stay and stay high.
